Why would they contract this out to Cognizant? I would have guessed that their music streaming service would have been a priority for them, and something they would want to do in-house with well payed employees? What am I missing here?

It compiles down to a single binary and is relatively easy to write. I think that is the reason it is such a popular language for CLI tools. You will never have an issue with missing dependencies or outdated runtime.

I really like Go but the type system is just a bit too weak in my opinion. It is the biggest issue I have with the language ( and the fact that errors are basically untyped, you can type them but no one does…)

but does that matter legally for health, finance and legal sectors? I am not familiar with the laws themselves but I worked in finance for a long time and the internal rules where that sensitive data cannot move off premises no matter what

I made a few apps in Go with mostly just standard library (I used the Chi router). The first API was fun but I never felt as productive as I did with Django. If I do a Go project now I usually try to push the team to consider more libraries
