A function with type A -> B is essentially equivalent to an object of type B^A. I can give you some relatively intuition for the case that A is finite. Imagine B^|A|, this is a list of B elements with one for every element in A. You can

I can't disagree with your feeling, but I think it's sometimes difficult to put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesn't have experience in a certain area. While explaining something to first-semester CS students, I said

The title suggests that type checking should be replaced with parsing, but that's not the article's message. Rather the article recognizes that powerful type systems (more powerful than in many mainstream languages, perhaps) are a

There's something I really want from my iPad: support for custom keyboard layouts for attached keyboards. Mine is currently unsupported, so as soon as I need to type something I need to put it away and use another device, even if the i

This time around it’s not a pure software solution. ARM has a significantly weaker memory model than x86, which makes translation generally difficult and/or slow. It appears the M1 natively supports the x86 memory model which makes the

I'm afraid I didn't and I cannot really recall, but many were related to networking. I think one was that I couldn't have two containers on the same network listen to the same port, another one was related to Podman not playi

I love the idea of Podman being daemonless and (potentially) rootless. Regardless of the presence of security flaws in dockerd, the Podman architecture just feels cleaner. And the CLI compatibility is great. Until it isn't. At work we

The way I understand these reports is "it's most likely possible, but we still need to actually make it work". In particular, it seems there's not a complete boot loader. Or at least this is what this thread implies: ht

I imagine the post you are replying to is referring to actually getting the Linux kernel to boot (since there is no BIOS, UEFI, etc.) and writing drivers for all the possibly specialized hardware Apple put in there.

The ToS explicitly forbid usage of third-party clients and people have been banned over this issue. Some people may be fine with taking this risk, but I also absolutely understand not wanting to deal with it. Personally, I fall in the latte

I continue to be impressed by how good the libraries and tooling built around Rust are. Sure, there are areas where Rust isn't a good fit (yet), but whenever there are libraries, they look absolutely solid and the documentation include

Anecdotally I upgraded from an (overclocked) 2500K to a mere 3600 and am perfectly happy with the performance I'm getting, even running virtual machines or compiling large code bases. Would a 3700X have been even nicer? Probably, but w

Yes, and I'm not saying that's a good thing, but I do think it's important to stay factual in complaints. However another massive issue except the fees is data flow. I don't need US corporations to know about all my tran

I don't see a huge issue there. You need not necessarily be able to run your code in parallel to game, the console could provide the option to run either your game or other code. Of course you can now make the argument that any form of
