That's not really the same thing, you simply dislike the taste of artificial sweeteners. I dislike Stevia too, I can drink a cup of coffee with it once a day, but if I eat two subsequent things sweetened with stevia I feel like throwin

Because your palate gets saturated by sweet and as such many things that have a low sugar content are not appealing to you anymore. For example, when I was younger I was the only one in the family who drank soft drinks. Every time my mother

The psychological aspect is the biggest one. Even using artificial sweeteners that might have no effect on the body, you are still accustoming people to a completely skewed level of sweetness in foods. Someone who drinks Coke Zero every day

If we fined businesses that use unsupported proprietary software they would either have to move to something proprietary and actively maintained or collectively crowdfund an open source alternative.

1. if the tweet was from someone outside of the government then creating a mastodon instance does not make any sense 2. if the tweet was from the government then why couldn't they also put up something on a webpage on their own sites?

backwards compatibility is the cause for all of this, and it's a bitch to deal with in an ideal world every time you need to break compatibility you would provide extensive documentation and make migration as painless as possible. this

I don't really understand this. Is this a state-operated social network for its citizens or is it a public announcements platform? Because if it's PA then going with Mastodon seems pretty excessive

You could have an extremely optimized text-only platform that would cost pennies to run and scale, but who would join?

Indieweb is by definition not sustainable. Either you are a generous person who is paying out of his pocket to host a platform, or you require people to pay for usage (or your platform it truly p2p but good luck with people having the means

Incredibly repetitive for being only 2 minutes long. We get it, VC funded social networks become worse over time so you have to periodically jump ship to something new, which will quickly let you down again once it gains critical mass.
