I've found for myself that it better start tmux/screen session on server up on login and don't spend time thinking on per case basis. So 95% on ssh sessions I use run tmux inside and usually the first command after ssh login

You probably messing FOSS with something not requiring people to be paid. If I take say RHEL or Ubuntu Pro it still FOSS but it's paid. Not sure where you are getting this fan boy style impressions on I'm against FOSS from.

Keep loving it, I don't mind. Very good it gets work done for you. Just keep telling for yourself. Linux introduces more hiccups for me than Windows. Having something for free is not viable in long term, work and efforts must be paid.

I have VMs for tests purposes as well, while still find WSL convenient for simple tasks [not requiring much isolation and flexibility of VMs].

I'm stick to Windows and WSL - I'm not looking into Linux On Desktop land (not in FreeBSD on Desktop as well of course), I have enough Linux on servers at work and doing sysadmin job at home is not appealing to me. I like the robu

With servers it's expected to have someone to actually take care of them - I.e. do maintenance work like reboot once a month or use LivePatch or other measures. Note though, snapd updates packages for you by default and was not an opti

It is. Parent comment just messes and misunderstands/focus only on "isolation" part of Podman/Docker, which is foundation but hardly a selling point of those products.

Sounds like FreeBSD could make DX much better even 20 years ago, before any Docker was created, but opted out of such step further? Or have not seen opportunity? Or some other specific reason?

I swear it's improvement. Switched from wsl1 long time ago - 3 or 4 years I guess. Using Wsl1 for very specific task of doing socket forwarding from host OS, the rest happens in WSL2. Simple thing like using namespaces or not so simple
