I don’t like missing 3D GPU drivers, and missing .NET runtime. If it had these two things I would try OpenBSD for embedded use cases, instead of Debian or Alpine Linux. Linux GPU story is not stellar but for embedded applications it’s not t

I think the amount of mental overhead with base 2 coins is still less than with the proposed [ 1, 3, 11, 37 ] solution.

In ideal world, I would prefer coins to be powers of 2. It requires 7 coins in [ 1 .. 64 ] range to reach 100, but the average of popcnt( 1 .. 99 ) is only 3.19 coins per transaction, way better than 4.1 coins.

My guess is, because what’s in these current standard libraries and OSes are good enough. Synchronizing multiple CPU cores together is fundamentally slow, there’s no ways around it. They are far apart on the chip, and sometimes even on diff

I discovered that setting after building a new desktop PC recently. It was disappointing to find the awful keyboard lag introduced by the new OS, as I use MS Office daily. About start menu animations, I actually prefer the UX without them.

I would add that on modern WinNT, Direct3D is an essential part of the kernel, see dxgkrnl.sys. This means D3D11 is guaranteed to be available. This is true even without any GPU, Windows comes with a software fallback called WARP. This allo
