In general LLMs have made many areas worse. Now you see people writing content using LLMs without understanding the content itself, it becomes really annoying especially if you don't know this and ask the question "did you perhaps

Not really, linux doesn't really have a good file manager. Dolphin probably gets you closest. I'd like to scratch the itch, but I don't have time to start such a project at the moment.

Nix has been a godsend at dealing with different dev environments and (cross-)compiling complicated software stacks. When you write a proper nix derivation that runs inside a nix sandbox it does not matter where you run it, you'll have

Generating code during comptime is explicitly forbidden by the author. You can still generate code during build.zig of course.

Posts like these remind me how go really has nothing going for it apart from goroutines and channels. It's awkward mix of low level and high level with C like influence, which is weird considering it's a GC language.

The project seems to be built on top of my android2gnulinux project from way back. Nice to see someone picking up the pieces and making it more functional. https://github.com/Cloudef/android2gnulinux

The arch used in steam deck is already used as a immutable base. Users typically use flatpak to install custom software. It's possible to remove the read-only lock, but any modifications to base will get overwritten by updates.

NixOS could have been good alternative as well and probably easier to maintain / develop, but I'm sure Arch as base takes less space than NixOS.

Even steam runtime is hit and miss, the problems mostly come with GPU drivers / mesa incompatiblity.

It's unfortunate but win32 has stable ABI. Such thing can't be really said about glibc and dynamic linking. Many old linux game binaries simply don't work or need tinkering to get them work.

Git is great when you use it from CLI. There is no single good git GUI app. Ideally a GUI git app would give you a interface for rebase and visualize the history, branches and trees. You'd drag commits around and then it would construc

Vanguard is good example of blocking even honest customers from playing. You basically need clean install of windows, clean drivers, no third party apps and modern hardware to even launch the game.

Interesting. One thing I don't like about flutter is the management of platform specific meta files. How does skip handle this? Do I still have to write bunch of .manifest, res and .plist files per platform? How about screenshot and al
