Right, the child process can't escape the sandbox. I guess IPC here is the only sane choice.

I get why they invented this for flatpak (Even though it still could be done with processes and namespaces), but my original point was wondering why they did not originally use fork, exec and pipe.

I was under impression the backend has to implement all of the API to do that. Nice to know it's enough to have dbus service that listens to a single call. I might do this to replace file picker on my machine. It's still baffling

I've always wondered why file picker has to be so tightly integrated into GUI toolkit. Separate program outputting the selected path(s) sounds like much nicer design, and makes it easier to implement alternative file pickers.

I've recently been playing with flutter and I like it more than react-native. React-native feels kind of a hack job, and the resulting program isn't really that well optimized (both performance and size wise). Flutter seems like m

I wrote once a escpos emulator[1] that takes in escpos code and turns it into a bitmap image. I failed to get this bitmap image to print properly with cups so I ended up writing my own printing routines as well for that certain receipt prin

I used unionfs first to combine the sandbox and / where host / is read-only. Then simply bubblewrap into it. I also mounted / to /host if for some reason you wanted to access host fs from inside the sandbox.

I used bubblewrap to do a lightweight containers on top of arch + pacman. Basically you could install packages on overlays of the host and do whatever there without affecting the host fs. It was pretty nice.
