Happens in AAA too but we tend to have teams that shield everyone from that before they get to work. I ran a team like that for a couple years. For hobby stuff at home though I don't tend to hit those types of issues because my project

monogame is pretty much the continuation of XNA although they have added more stuff. There is another framework called FNA that I've not used personally but I've heard it tries to match XNA exactly while monogame is a bit more for

Are you referring to the Metabo law section? I'm not sure if I overlooked something but I don't see anything about co-workers paying a tax. Are you referring to the potential fine the company pays? For what it's worth. I'

I only do a build about once every 8 years these days and for me I had just not heard of Asrock. I do a bit of research when I do a build but I'm far from a hobbyist. I'll definitely look them up next time because I've had is

I got one of those at a FAANG interview. I was a bit less experienced and less confident at the time so I left the interview thinking I was misunderstanding some fundamental CS laws.

I personally would consider 10-40 person teams to potentially qualify as AA. Often we also outsource code/art so the team size can sometimes be misleading. I suppose I would go by the budget. Maybe 5-10million+ IMO. It also kind of dep

I've worked on some titles very similar to Yakuza and I keep espousing the way they develop their titles. I don't know for sure because I haven't worked at the studio but it really seems like they've streamlined their de

Oh wow they re-implemented WPF? Madness. I seem to recall not wanting to make WPF cross platform was one of the reasons visual studio on Apple is based on monodevelop. I worked at a shop that wouldn't hesitate to spend the 20k in a sec

Often in the past Lua has been used and in my experience it's been quite nice. It's very easy to bind, there's some nice editors out there and the performance is decent. There's some other game-specific scripting languag

I worry about that too, because of that I'm very hesitant to give out my CV. I also wonder what advantage they get by having my CV when my work history is public on my linkedin. What do CV farmers gain from having a pdf of my CV? Could

It's a great place. A lot of interesting stuff has happened here and a lot of people moved on. I kind of like it now though that all the big fish have moved on (notch, phil fish and a few others started here).

Not the person you asked but if I had to guess it might be similar to how people react to leaving a dog in a car. That is to say it's a heat issue.

I loathe confluence, tried to get a markdown plugin around 2016 and IIRC the charge was 5$ per person at the company per month. For what it's worth it's a lot better than it was in 2016 but I'm still not a fan.
