That is pretty cool, it has definitely been an interesting electric truck week. I especially like Volvo USA's Electric VNR series ( https://www.volvotrucks.us/trucks/vnr-electric/ ). As someone who tries to cur

That's great, I really wanted something like that when I worked at Google because nobody allowed their machine to make noise and I'd miss the 'meeting indicator' and be late for meetings. Started making one but with much

230 max miles though, and 90 minute recharge. With range margin that is 2 ninety minute stops for a 500 mile day. But I would certainly agree that 230 mile range, reliably day in and day out would be better than 500 mile range "sometim

This seems kind of par for the course. What I find strange is that there are busses[1] operating economically with similar time of use (but not top speed) requirements. The whole "car parts scaled up to truck size" is super on bra

I don't disagree, but "too much" isn't really a thing. The trick there is understanding long duration storage preparation options. Zucchini for example can be incorporated into an excellent relish, tomatoes into a number

This is pretty neat, I'm not a huge COBOL fan but actually got paid once to write code that generated outreach mail for political correspondence using voter registration data. For that, it worked really well and I could certainly appre

As I understand it, Stalin said, "Quantity is its own kind of quality." But I don't have the original Russian (someone here no doubt does) where he was referring to the USSR's ability to produce arms faster than their op

This is a bummer. Of all the Twitter replacement wannabes I think Spoutible has been the most successful at capturing the essence of what it was that made Twitter fun early on. The new 'news feed' was a much better take on getting

One of the more interesting things to me is that while every storage medium has failures (which is why RAID and backups are a thing :-) there are more failure modes with flash storage that present as abrupt storage failure.

Interesting article! This would certainly be amenable to signal processing algorithms if you could get reliable wave height/frequency data. I suspect flying a kite doing SAR above and behind the ship (looking forward) would likely be t

Ouch! My thought was that the app based model with some sort of vetting of drivers was better than a jobs board with people's names on it. Perhaps not a lot better but possibly better.

I sometimes speculate on what some weapon designer has up on their whiteboard using an F9 booster as a weapons platform. What is the range of a Tomahawk launched at 80,000' and Mach 3? Or a cluster of 9? Kind of scary when you think ab
