There is a vanishingly small chance of your battery disposal box being the source of a fire in your house. The Fire Cause Analysis have reported one for sure, and another possible in the years 2017 - 2022. Out of all the fires that is a sma

I think this is one of those times when my Mom, understanding my desire to be understood and to ask questions about motives and related understanding, would observe the, oblivious to me, effect of inflaming the conversation and say, "C

This is a really interesting use case. I could definitely see this as a service for content providers to get more reach and I think you could justify a subscription price for the service based on this. By keeping creating speaker specific t

I periodically search Craigslist for them and I've asked the local gear reseller (Starving Musician) to be on the eye out for a "dead" one. I seriously doubt having one shipped would be cost effective :-). There is a $50 one

This is an interesting result. It makes me wonder if you could grow a silicon ingot in this way. If so it would cut the cost of silicon solar cells significantly (a big chunk of their cost is the cost of the ingot, the ingot cost is a funct

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was think just the electronics at $1 per key. The action for the keyboard would cost more than that. In my alternate life I find a broken/disused KX-88 and rebuild its keyboard :-)

I was thinking more like the burgeoning mechanical keyboard business for computers. If the mechanical structure was there your could provide arbitrarily low latency (some of the high end 'gamer' keyboards are sub-millesecond). Giv

I agree strongly with the sentiment of this article, the author missed the fully open source programmable systems like the Lattice ECP5 and 40K FPGAs. There is something magical about using the LiteX "make me an SOC out of this board&q

In terms of cost it seems way way cheaper. The water is stored near where it is needed (so no canals to dig), and you can throw up another one for $125K vs the millions of $ to build a dam. So I'm guessing the evaporation challenge isn
