Alternatively, you can have human-centric P2P networks like Scuttlebutt and Dat where you don't have to worry about sybil attacks . It's a trade-off, because these networks are invite-only, but once you're in you're g

Yep, sorry for the brevity -- I was on mobile. Right now the only valid message type is a JSON payload with both the content of the message and the signature embedded in the object. This has two problems: - The embedded signature is annoyin

Of course not. The point (for me) is that it's truly owned by it's users and it never goes down.

I'm personally working on both of these problems. Multiple feeds are implementated in an Oasis PR, and multiple feed types are implemented in the protocol and Go implementation, but the JS implementation is still being worked on. Once

It's a shame that people are learning new things and experimenting with new hobbies to keep themselves busy during quarantine. All change is bad, but especially personal growth. But really though, a family buying 5 pounds of flour is

Fun trivia: the original implementation[0] was 17 lines of Ruby, which was absolutely terrible because I didn't know what I was doing. I'm happy to see that it's grown so much! [0]: https://github.com/Homebrew

I think there's a pre-assembled version of this, it's called "a plastic bag", and most people know not to stick their head in one. Please don't encourage dangerous behavior.

You may already do this, but bugs like these are the reason I usually recommend having two kernels. The "oh crap did the latest release break X" is a lot easier to test if you can just reboot into the LTS kernel.

Also: Does this work offline, or on just a LAN? To be completely candid, I feel very strongly that we should be moving away from decentralized protocol that require anything more than two friends and a wifi network.

Yes, the point being that linear halving is much more intuitive for most people than exponential halving. Even when you're told the doubling rate, your brain reaches for the wrong answer every time.

Maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always considered Ctrl+C and Ctrl+D to be signals that you can send a process rather than explicit characters. You might also get some stdout for those key combinations because ???
