That's what I do, but I'm just saying a lot of sites duplicate the content without intending to do anything nefarious.

Having two or three domains with the same content should be OK. After all, many sites have a www and simply a top level domain with the same content. But having more than that should be penalized by the search engine gnomes.

The thing that gets me is that these fraudulent apps are showing up on the App Store's highest grossing apps list. What's the point of all these App Store rules and the 30% cut if they aren't even going after highly visible offenders?

"Or are there occasions when we might choose to leave off a book before the end, or even only half way through, and nevertheless feel that it was good, even excellent, that we were glad we read what we read, but don’t feel the need to fini

Quite right. I knew Foursquare went with OSM, I was just putting a hypothetical out there as a thought exercise. But I did change my post to be a bit more accurate. Also, you make a great point about the lower level of fidelity Foursquare,

Simple answer: Google Maps suddenly costs a lot of dough. More complex answer: Companies that need mapping services don't want to rely on Google if they are a competitor. Say you're Foursquare. Would you rather rely on Google, a company t

That's an important point. The work Apple puts into making an iPhone is enormous. They do research, design, manufacturing coordination. They made the operating system, police the App Store, operate a content delivery store, manage licensing

This will change as the smart phone market matures. App developers won't make more money, but device manufacturers and network operators will make less due to increased competition. We're already seeing the signs of maturation with Android

The mobile version that loads on my iPad is different from the one that loads on my iPhone, and it looks like it uses more javascript. Does anyone know the size of the iPad page?

Shouldn't it be a higher priority? More and more web users are accessing sites from low powered devices with slow connections that might even have data caps (think tablets or netbooks on 3G networks). Twitter pages don't even seem particula

I'm curious how much DDG's traffic has grown as a direct result of Google's perceived gaffes in the last few months. I can't speak for anyone else, but I switched to DDG after Google started pushing Plus in their search results.

Ask for your money back :-) * * * * In all seriousness, I wish more defunct software companies would do this. Or better yet, I wish thriving companies would do this with their old programs, like ID Software and how they've released the sour

I've seen a lot of Windows Phone 7 promotion, but it's not all that compelling. Their entry into the smart phone wars was so late that they needed something extraordinary to convince people to consider them seriously. Instead they made some

I'd guess that the largest varying factor would be the cost of fuel. Amazon could just hedge on the price of oil and remove the financial uncertainty.

It's not ideal that you have to use a mishmash of services to get what you want when you want it. But there are multiple delivery mechanisms for a lot of popular content. For instance, you could watch the West Wing Season 2 on iTunes: http

I'm glad Canonical is trying to bridge the gap between Linux and an Apple-like design aesthetic. The Linux desktop experience has been extremely unfriendly to less than expert level users, and it'd be great if that changed. But if history i

If Apple did that they'd kill the devotion from the development community. They may end up making App Store only the default option, but I have trouble seeing a day where you can only install Apple certified software on your Mac. Overnight
