I used FreshDirect frequently when I lived in New York. It's incredibly useful -- particularly if your only local supermarket is fairly awful for real food like produce or meat -- but it's also fantastically expensive. I don'

Nothing against Chrome extensions, but I have yet to see an messaging application that competes with Pidgin. It's simple, beautiful, and perfect at what it does. Unfortunately, Google doesn't permit Pidgin to use its current proto

Feynman the physicist? Dude, your antagonism has no place here. You're not helping your argument, you're just making HN worse.

I'm not sure that equating creationism with nutrition makes sense. Nor does the rise of grain necessarily signal evolutionary adaptation. It seems quite possible that humans can survive and thrive on sub-optimal nutrition. In fact, Jar

My health has never been better. I'm not sure why you think I've earned your derison... but okay. Eat sugar, dude. I'm not here to save your life. But if some of the awesome nerds who read HN decide to get healthy, I'd r

You think you're being sarcastic. The only reason why fruits are okay in moderation is that their fiber mitigates some of the damage of their sugar content. The vitamins you can get from fruit are valuable, but the sugar rush isn'

Speaking as someone you might consider xenophobic -- in that I think the set of opinions that constitute Islam are pretty awful, particularly in regard to apostates, women, and homosexuals -- I've never considered bacon to be an avenue

This post was downvoted, but I'm not sure why. I eat bacon every day... but only with the aid of significant ethical dissonance. Pigs are incredibly intelligent, comparable with dolphins and dogs. The way they're raised and slaugh

Personally, I'm persuaded by my personal experience as well as testimony from /r/keto. I've lost nearly 100 lbs over the past year by switching to a high-fat, moderate-protein, and ultra low-carbohydrate diet. I really c

Just to update your nutrition information, the streaky stuff is great for you. Fats, especially animal fats, are pretty wonderful for human health. You lose both flavor and nutrition when you remove it from your diet. I feel like I'm l

My only experience is with the Note II, but third-party camera apps are somehow much worse than the crappy native Samsung camera app. I had high hopes for the Google Camera app, but they're all fairly terrible... and very few can do co

Agreed on every count. I love my Note II's size, flip cover, and battery life, and the Note 4 looks incredibly tempting. That said... a word of caution. I absolutely loved my Note II when I first upgraded from my iPhone 4 two years ago

I guess... aside from hoarding photos, the only other things I want to do with them is improve them and share them. And I've never seen any other site do that as well as G+. (Except Everpix, at least for hoarding and sharing.) G+'

Argh. You guys, I don't get the hate. As someone else pointed out, if G+ dies, all we're left with it Facebook... and for what it's worth, G+ is far and away my favorite social network of all time. Between circles and auto-aw

No way. Is this a successor to the old DOS game by the same title? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominus_(video_game) I spent a great deal of my childhood playing Dominus, admittedly badly. I'd love to see its spir

There is almost no appropriate scenario for you to waste your life with law school. I'm in a top school now (T6), and I've never regretted a decision more. I will owe nearly $300,000 before I'm done, having sacrificed my yout

Wouldn't the idea of Basic Jobs be more feasible than Basic Income? HN is populated by people who love their work and would do it for free, given the luxury... but speaking from a legal background, other careers SUCK. Most lawyers I kn
