WoW floored me, it was what I had always wanted in a game since first playing Ultima (I). The grind and the silliness finally killed it tho (plus trying to wrangle time to play after putting the kids to bed, I got very little sleep for 2 ye

I'm a 50+ gamer and I could care less about refresh rates, any first-person shooters (I guess that's two FPS I don't care about!), photorealism, and dance/emotes. Stanley Parable was probably the last time I was blown a

I really enjoy articles like this. My job responsibilities require a knowledge split about 67% software and 33% hardware. While I've been building circuits since the early 1980's, I never got the hang of analog in college (yes, I

It's not really clear from this paper, it is more handwavy based on today's circuits. They claim that the darlington voltage drop is ~2V which is suitable for 5V to 2.5V regulation, and then introduce 100mV with an NFET as low-dro

The unwashed masses that led J6 "did their own research" yet still qualify as brainwashed zombies. There's so much shit in the channels and so much polarization that appealing to people learning how to think critically will f

Same thing with NASA. There are countless mashups of NASA foibles. SpaceX is the same, just for profit.

I was a big fan of Yubikey (I have 3) until fewer and fewer services supported them, instead switching to authenticator apps. Now I have zero hard tokens, but still four authenticator apps: Google + 3 for banking services that use their own

Yeah my lineage was sort of a quickie to make a rough point, not be a well researched history. Not sure why your text is gray, though!

Oh, right, I had remembered it backwards, and I didn't realize Eno got it from Riley and Oliveros! I guess my chain of provenance is missing a few. Of course, in the hands of any creative musician, I think it would only take a week or

That's a really good explanation I hadn't thought of: an example of deploying both-side-ism when both-side-ism is desperately needed. Shrewd, but I wonder if it was intentional or just the outcome of an editing war of egos.

If you would call out the inaccuracies and cite why you think they are, that would be far more useful and helpful to the discussion than just complaining and waving vaguely ... "over there" as where the errors lay.

Yes, Roku is full of all that. The ads are minimal so far: they don't pop up while I'm watching things. I am adverse to a smart TV because it just adds unnecessary setup, GUIs, remotes, and cognitive load. A TV should be a monitor
