Yes, the math assumes the table is perfect and the floor uneven. In my experience this is frequently true with outdoor patio furniture - think decent glass table on a concrete patio.

A three legged table will always sit stably on an uneven surface. Adding a forth table introduces wobble. To remove that wobble, we need to find a location where the fourth leg is exactly the distance between the table top and the ground un

Absolutely amazing ISP. A while back my power went out. About three minutes later I got a text message (not from PG&E!) but from Sonic: (something like ..) "We noticed your connection went down and are running automated diagnostics

I would rather see us switch to an income based repayment schedule with discharge at 30 years, seems fair to the student and society.

Is it? The article seems to indicate that stations geographically remote from the fjord recorded an unusual signal that was later connected to the landslide event.

A check engine light is not a real notification? If a notification is standardized then it does not need to be intrusive.

In complete agreement, I will add an anecdote from my experience: I have a tiny hardly updated blog where I post stuff I do and assume nobody at all will ever read it. A month ago I got an email from somebody asking about a detail because h

They should learn about bloom filters. Could kill two birds with one stone, fix leaking the preferences via the swipe list and fix the ever growing query problem.

I should have been more clear, I think that 3 gallons/second is quite a lot of water; much more than many creeks that I enjoy in the outdoors.

For perspective - 3 gallons a second (180 per minute) is a 2-3" pipe at maximum possible flow rate. In other words, a decent sized fire hose.

That use case is already covered by costco membership. Costco locations are nicely distributed near freeway exits across the nation. Plenty of parking, decent bathrooms, and you can get food of you need it.

To this point, I have shopped in grocery stores during power outages. The checkout terminals usually have battery backup and a local copy of the current prices to enable processing cash transactions.

Essentially the same problem as with fiber optics. The data can't be recovered unless there are frequent bit transitions. In that case the data is transformed to ensure illegal patterns cannot occur.

The basic idea is you have a source of electrons and a way to get at least some of them going where you want. A simple way to do this is to have a hot charged filament (source of electrons) and a plate with a hole to attract them. Check out
