Most people I know in town make $10-20/hr. There is a startup scene here but most of those companies either use interns or pay less than $20/hr. There is a large portion of the population in jobs like nursing, banking, tourism or

Material costs are up right now from my understanding. I assume that is part of the issue. In my area the issue was land to build on. The main undeveloped areas are either national forest or farmland the majority of which is owned by just

Idaho in general is getting hit hard. Montana will be next once things like Starlink take off. The primary limitation to living out in the middle of nowhere has been commute to high paying jobs. I wonder how many people would move to Coeu

I see this problem currently coming to a head in my area (Coeur d'Alene, ID) We have long been a destination area for people looking to escape the cities but in the last year we have had 33-50% increase in housing prices (limited inve

It varies by state, region and facility. Don't forget that there are privately owned prisons in the US. Some programs do not allow you access to certain materials and when they do very likely may be old/outdated. And of course..

After briefly reading the comments I decided to chime in a little bit. First, 30 years on the inside...crazy. I don't think it is possible to put that in perspective. Cellphones were uncommon, the internet was still using "prodi

I remember back when I was young opening up an older stereo my parents had and right inside was the schematic and wiring diagram for the whole machine. My father had a shop manual for his 1962 Ford Thunderbird and not only did it tell you h

Tubes are better since they have amplify with less "zero point crossover distortion". Silicon has .7v and Germanium has .3v Vbe so that is why people seek them. My understanding though is that it is something you can tune by addi

My memory...which is very hazy and limited on this topic...is that the Germanium based transistors have a VBE of .3v instead of silicon's VBE of .7v So in things like amplifiers it gives you less zero point crossover distortion. In di
