Is it really a semi finals when it's 300 / 1600 applicants? Her situation is sad and unfortunate, but her circumstances shouldn't be used to advertise in her favour. Her work should stand on its own.

More and more companies seem to be forced/coerced into implementing backdoors into their chips, components, software. While the government will obviously claim it is for the good of its citizens, it would be nice if companies would be trans

You can opt out of it, but it will be enabled by default. I'm sure it's not meant to target technical users, but simply those who do not know any better. Old browser versions have been a detriment to web development for years. This is defin

Pretty big piece of FUD here. Title is "secures Europe-wide sales ban", yet the article is littered with bits like "could be barred from sale" and "whether Germany can enforce a Europe-wide ban on 3G-enabled iOS devices is unclear".

Even if the standards process could be carried out in another country, as you said, countries where patents exist would not be able to implement the resulting standard. The end result would be an api that is anything but standard. It's impo

Now only if we could combine this with improving the reliability of a web app. From the comments it sounds like a great article, but I've been trying to read this for about 8 hours now with no luck.

He's going further than saying it's not worth him building, he's saying it's not worth building at all. If it was worth building, he would hire someone to do it for him. He's saying he could accept it if it falls into his lap, costing him

I know a few cases where people have sold gift cards above market value. Mostly it's because the purchaser is unable to buy from the shop because of their location, credit card brand or other enforced block. Many online games for instance b

It really perplexes me as to how paypal can get away with withholding money from people. What is stopping them from simply picking accounts at random and saying, "actually, I don't think you deserve this money, so we'll keep it."

These people do exist. I used to play MMO's a lot more than I'd like to admit, and during the time I probably went through ~5k selling game items for real money and vice versa and personally dealt with some "whales". I can think of about 20

Article is misleading based on units. Food is in kCal, but the calories being calculated for temperature are just normal cals. Enjoy burning 6 calories from your 1200 calorie desert.

I think you're confused about the definition of befuddle. be·fud·dle 1. To confuse; perplex. 2. To stupefy with or as if with alcoholic drink. Customs agents didn't flag him for his involvement in bitcoin; they didn't understand what it was
