Never had a pre interview before my interview. I think it may be if YC wants to understand something about your application that isn't totally clear, before making a judgement on giving an interview.

The difference is if someone doesn't choose to stay at your AirBnB, you take no loss. If someone continuously works on design competitions, they could walk away with nothing for hours of work. I guess some people feel it is taking advantage

I'm not sure if this is something good to admit or not, but I only spent about 2 hours writing my YC application, and we spent about 15 minutes planning and filming the video, no editing. The video got 2 views. We got asked to do an intervi

Sadly not too many details are published. Wouldn't be surprised if the main vulnerability was caused by applications blindly trusting any certificate - which happens to be a fairly common design pattern when dealing with Android. Sadly, a l

Seconded. It was pretty obvious that it was a phone about 20 seconds in. Watching them finally figure out the keypad was in fact a keypad around 8 minutes became too stressful to watch.

My experience with GoDaddy has been nothing but negative. The latest being a SSL certificate I purchased 9 months ago. They auto renewed the certificate at full price 90 days in advance, without any warning whatsoever. Partially my fault fo

Obviously the functionality of it is terrible, I don't get it at all. But how something so large would be overlooked is near impossible. Not a single developer/tester had a dual monitor setup? Unlikely. Just because you don't like how it w

Not to be nit-picky, but $200/12 is closer to 17 than 13.

They're going to give stock options to former employees in exchange for consulting work? Stock options similar to the ones the just forcefully discarded from said employees? I'd be camping out to take them up on that offer!

It's a way to link, or "hook" to a web based service. You provide a URL where you want to receive event information, and when an event happens the server will HTTP POST the relevant information to the URL. This way, you don't have to consta

Lots of talk about the gross money coming in. But it seems to skim over the fact that there's a real product being exchanged. Records being sold at $3 seems like a bargain, but what was the cost of these records to begin with? Sure you made

Assuming your time is free though... How many hours will it take you to write "two high quality applications"? I'm guessing more than a couple hours depending on the strictness of the term.
