I switched first to Gentle Typhoons, then the new Noctua NF-A12×25. The cheap-o original fans were quiet at low speed but hardly moved any air, and at high speed they made tons of wind noise; I think the airfoils were stalling or something.

I built a custom case with a rotated motherboard like this, with a huge furnace filter on the intake and 8 fans (well in excess of what's needed for cooling) to clean my room air.

Bottoming out depends on a lot of things. Topre offers a little padding on the bottom as you squish the rubber. Plastic plates or PCB-mounted switches offer a little give. Personally, my daily driver has thick steel plates, but it's a

That's completely orthogonal to the appeal of the Holy Panda though. The Apex Pro switches aren't tactile at all, they're linear. Obviously if you prefer linear there's no room in the discussion for the Holy Panda.

There are in my opinion two sorts of tactile switches: the ones where the tactility exists so you can be reminded to not bottom out (like Cherry Brown), and ones where the tactility induces you to bottom out, like rubber domes (including to

You may not believe me, but Holy Panda switches feel amazing to type on, even among mechanical switches. There certainly is the aspect of exclusivity and collection, but there's a reason it became so notoriously desirable in the firs

A payment gateway isn't a channel for discovering a vendor, though. You don't go to Visa or PayPal when doing your shopping. You go to a vendor, and the vendor has a choice of whether or not to accept a given method of payment. Th

If you add a lot of solder to a joint, it will wick and the excess will climb along metal using surface tension. You can cut through the solder when cutting the tops of the header pins off, but it's bad to stress the solder itself like

The automated flight termination system may have detonated it due to it deviating from the "planned" flight path. It looked too instantaneous and clean of an explosion to have broken up naturally.

I enjoy this app because I get to hear about launches happening all around the world in real time. My only complaint is that it gives live notifications about launches I'm already watching, popping up over the YouTube stream.

This is an oft-repeated myth. Per-pixel noise depends indeed on the pixel size, but image-scale noise is almost completely independent of the pixel size. That's because while a large pixel has less noise, it appears larger in the outpu
