I love that idea. Can you imagine we had a standard around this? For example: Monthly payments - notification could go out >24 hours before the transaction will occur.

I have no evidence for this but I expect the experience would be similar to visiting an Apple store.

Can you imagine how this would the increase the search radius of a air rescue mission? One search and rescue flight looking for survivors could launch a half dozen drones each extending the explored area by thousands of square kilometres pe

Rossman raises some interesting points here that got me thinking. I wonder if we need to split companies up that want to play across too many layers - Amazon owns the (1) infrastructure platform (AWS), (2) the marketplace (Amazon.com) and (

1. What is the official way we're supposed to handle this? 2. How should the tech world communicate that better so that it's more user-friendly?

I love this sort of thing. Something I appreciate is looking through the resulting YAML config at the best practices and rich experience by the team that wrote it. It reminds me of receiving "golden images" from vendors with a pre

You are correct. Some of this has changed significantly somewhere between Java 8 and 16. For example the Java applications we're running against Hotspot 16 regularly gives memory back to the host. It's GC pauses are also quite ins

I would normally agree with a statement along these lines. However I would like to think that this came out of the marketing budget for the tourism sector. I bet tourism is significant to Egypt's economy. Then I think the question beco

I am gradually getting myself out of the FANG world. What do you do about the duopoly (is that right?) of the A+G? The two of them own iOS and Android. Not sure I can have smart phone today without one of them involved.

I was thinking through something recently. Here's where I think things are going: - I suspect that air platforms will be littered with censors and massive amounts of data will be collected. - This data will be used to train AI to compl

I know it's anecdotal but I've asked my colleagues the same - in a country with a terrible history of this sort too. And turns out I can't find a single person who agrees with Github's decision.

You're pretty much there. Lots of kids and people without public IPs they can write NAT rules for setup Minecraft servers at home etc. This is the classic example that can be solved with ZeroTier, TailScale etc.
