The most important goal IMO is to expose and weaken the misguided use and expansion of "soft power" in my name, with my tax dollars and without my consent. Ironically, one of the consistent outcomes is starving and dying children.

I am a messenger, and it turns out I've got some bad news as well. My contention is that this kind of emotional appeal has been exploited to the point of (quickly) diminishing returns. People are scratching the surface and following th

Pre-2022, Twitter was subject to heavy editorial oversight from D.C. and northern VA. Censorship and propaganda at breathtaking scale. This is a good place to start: https://twitterfiles.substack.com/

Agreed. Besides, "left" and "right" are particularly meaningless in this context. Cheney spent his last years being openly embraced by the same people who spent the last few decades playing the part of opposition.

Yeah, but Cheney's an interesting one especially here. Probably a lot of permanent D.C. types lost track of whether to lionize or demonize the man in public (they always loved him privately) Oh, what a tangled web ...

"open"? That's an interesting word to describe a platform that was previously the undisputed playground of Feds and NGOs.

I'm fascinated with the number of users of this site who seem disproportionately invested in getting people to stop using Twitter.

And don't forget the tertiary effects as we displace millions with those bombs, only to take in a large number of "asylum seekers" from the countries we "aided". IMO this is all by design, and there are a non-zero n

I read somewhere that if the user presses the accelerator all the way to the floor, a tesla will indeed go really fast. Won't anyone think of the children?

This has been my experience, yes. Although dogma implies long held beliefs. The rate of adoption has accelerated along with the news cycle.

I'd never heard of the replication crisis, but it mirrors what I think is a core problem with modern political discourse. Example: Two people with similar classically liberal values hear the same "pithy take" on a politicall

Except the BLS numbers have been significantly revised on an ongoing basis for the last five years. That's been so widely known that I have a really hard time believing that you guys don't know this, which makes me wonder why you&

Do you think the Trump administration is a root cause of last year's job numbers?

Huh? Most of the point of killing USAID was because it was a CIA front. And yes, they've been operating domestically as well with the same color revolution tactics. Particularly to try to keep Trump out of office. Trying to project t

Indeed, with five seasons of The Wire, no city has had it's decline so eloquently illustrated. Or at least it's continued decline. Great show. All the pieces matter.

The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012 has something to do with it. Also, a lot of what has happened goes back to the Church Committee and the fact that no meaningful reforms were made after that.

Lots of organic explanations for that. A lone developer can get away with infrequent commits at no practical cost. Maybe something happened in 2023 that made them a more prolific committer.

Academia and higher education have been central to some unsavory initiatives by federal agencies. The tendency to remain (or appear) willfully ignorant of those while clutching pearls over funding cuts is frankly repugnant.
