It has been surprisingly terrible at this for me, lately. I had a pretty simple list, which was a list of monthly expenses in a separate list, like this. Groceries - 200 Phone bill - 70 I just wanted it to add these expenses up. Exactly the

Alternatively, crime is taken more seriously when it happens to rich people. It's odd to watch the very billionaires who hoard the wealth, drive up property prices and force the lower class out of their homes complain about homeless pe

What's the idea here? Industrial languages are obvious and so more people can jump on a project without being lost? Is C really industrial in that case? Are there any merits to languages like Haskell/Clojure when the goal is still

This reads like propaganda. There's nothing wrong with not having kids or living in the city in your 20's. Buying a house as a single person in this current market would be financially irresponsible. The second person in your exam

Not really. Nothing wrong with complaining, but saying shit like "sounds like desperation to become relevant" (Yes that's a real comment in this thread) is just reading too much into a silly joke.

This is truly an impressive thread. HN will really complain about anything. It doesn't matter how innocuous the article. Some might say everyone on here is chronically online, but I don't think that's true. It's really j

What issues? This is an update to the docs to reinforce best practices that have been around for a while now. People are acting like there's been sudden breaking API changes. useEffect has always been a last resort technique, and even

From what I understand, the real value add of this is getting motion capture close enough with a solid facial model, and being able to tweak facial animations from a few seconds of acting, with parameters automatically mapped. It's not

This is in line with how I was taught how to use React years ago. I'm surprised so many people are angry with these new docs. React has been such a productivity boon for us and every time I have to work in Angular, I'm reminded of

There is only one case where you should be fetching inside of useEffect, and that is with an empty dependency array to get data on first render. Pretty simple and easy to wrap your head around. Everything else is triggered by event handlers

Do you feel anyone has improved upon what Reddit is doing? Or have you only found satisfaction in specific communities on specific sites? Are there non traditional communities like Tildetown that you enjoy?
