I think it's perfectly reasonable that bit.ly would want to charge for heavy usage of their service and are unwilling to spend their resources helping another company migrate away from their service because they decided they don't

Well if somebody is in higher education for computer science, I'm assuming their imagination has already been captured. I'm all for using whatever has the lowest barrier to entry in order to get young people interested in programm

I would disagree that you need an understanding of chemistry to cook... (although it doesn't hurt). However, if you want to teach somebody to cook, you don't teach them how to use the microwave :)

I think that's fine to whet a young adult's appetite, but in higher education, "Why?" should be an ally, not an enemy.

It seems the only argument for pushing Python is that it sidesteps the need to understand fundamental programming concepts. Sure Python is easy to read and easy to write, but that's not really the point. To teach somebody print "h

The amount of evals in the code is troubling too... eval{$penis = $cgi->param('postfield')}; eval{$penispenis = $cgi->param('postfield')};

I'm curious to know how networking behaves in a webgl build. Will my tcp sockets just work straight out of the box? That would be seriously impressive!

I think more people might take part if it was less intense. It's going to be hard to learn multiple code bases and submit a meaningful pull request every day if you're full-time employed. 12 days of Christmas, 12 pull requests!
