Your only option is to export the database from the desktop app and use third party tools like https://github.com/bepaald/signalbackup-tools to decrypt the backup. However in my experience this backup does not include

On the other hand, you will have an absolute pain trying to transfer messages to another device. To move from one android device to another you have to manually make a database backup (hope you didn’t lose your old phone!) and copy it over

Bignum arithmetic actually is pretty simple in Rust if you use the right library. Rug[0] makes using bignums look almost just like using native numbers through operator overloading. [0] https://crates.io/crates/rug

Making FFI calls to C is pretty easy and writing the FFI interface definitions can be completely automated with tools like bindgen [0]. Making FFI calls to C++ is a lot harder to do by hand, although cxx[1] is supposed to make doing so a lo

I'm not so sure this is correct. [0] says that Hashlife has logarithmic complexity on average. In the worst case it is O(n) since it could have to look at every element to see a pattern if one even exists [1]. Therefore the worst case

To expand on this, if you use CLion as your Rust IDE it will actually show you the types for all your variables automatically. For example, if you had a line like this: let foo = vec![1, 2, 3]; CLion would then show the type in a f

The nice thing about Rust is you often don’t have to declare the type of a variable since the compiler will just infer it for you. This is especially nice in an IDE like CLion which will show you the inferred type for each variable. As for
