That doesn't get the undesired application off the screen.

Seriously? The zoom example was only that: an example of an attempt to interact with the "active" application on the screen that fails because the menu does not correspond to the application that's being shown. Feel free to r

Nobody said the Mac is the only operating system with keyboard shortcuts, so maybe you're replying to the wrong comment there. The Delete key deletes the character to the right of the insertion point; the Backspace key deletes the char

I've never encountered any confusion of this sort with Word on Windows, nor with Windows's window-management in general. Nor have I encountered music apps ceasing playback just because their window is minimized... with one excepti

This doesn't require that the dismissed application still have control of the menu, however. It's annoying when you momentarily check a new E-mail message, minimize Mail, and then try to zoom the Web page you're looking at...

This is the "explanation:" "These changes include modifying the acronym NOTAM from Notice to Airmen to the more applicable term Notice to Air Missions" This is not explanatory, and sounds like more pandering.

"...central database for all NOTAMs (Notice to Air Missions) nationwide" No. NOTAM is "notice to airmen."

How are they going to rebuild the software without looking at build procedures (in environments where dynamic linking isn't available)? And even in an environment where dynamic linking is available, something like the Qt runtime is not

Unfortunately, Apple proponents love to smugly point to hotkeys as if "it's so simple." Great example: Apple's bizarre and petty refusal to put a real Delete key on its laptop or non-full-sized keyboards. They only have

Why do you prefer having an app running (and owning the sole menu bar) when it has no GUI on screen? I switched to Mac 20 years ago (when I started a decade-long stint as software engineer at Apple), and I still DETEST this behavior. Why th

The video does indeed show that this happened. The driver's account, as quoted here, doesn't even make sense. In the first sentence it says he was driving along in lane 1, the car slowed, and he "felt an impact." The nex

They're obviously selling computers as fast as they can make them. Locking down an interface on said computers doesn't seem to be protecting their core business; it seems to limit the usefulness of their core business. And make no

They have no business locking it down and preventing people from implementing higher-quality cameras, which would only add value to the Pi camera-interface "stack" anyway. No matter how you slice it, it's anti-community and e

But then you have the data-rate limitation of USB... is it equal to or better than that of the camera interface on the Pi? I have a Pi 4, but don't remember if it's USB 2 or 3.

Seems like we hear about a new microbe or "system" that converts plastics into fuel every other year or so. Yet none of them has set the world on fire.

Yes, we can forgive them if a vendor refuses to release specs or source (Broadcom, for example), but implementing their own DRM to prevent others from making compatible cameras seems hypocritical and needlessly anti-user. Is there some legi

Really useful info, thanks. I've never heard of this. It's really disappointing. I have wondered if there are any very-high-quality cameras you can connect to a Pi, but found none. I guess this is why.

I'm ruling it out because I don't consider it an acceptable level of polish (let alone ease) for any product I'd sell.

I can't tell if that's really meant to be a question, but this rules out mobile and I wouldn't attempt to sell a product on any platform that has to be rebuilt by the end user.

I was the lead on a cross-platform desktop application developed using Qt. I do not find the author of this article's segregation quite accurate. He seems to call all commercial Qt usage "Qt for device creation." That's
