I have gone down the exact same line of thinking. I think there is value in creating a simple relational data structure to have simple select and insert functions but not the overhead of sqlite. Many times when I think about it, the state

New NVMe drives claim 5GB/s on PCIe 4, is memory mapping something like that not good enough for you already?

As far as I can tell, a huge part is that they are incredibly overpriced. No one is going to pay $14k for an electric cycle when a brand new gas cycle costs $8k. People put together their own scooters from batteries, a controller and an el

How much pain are you willing to take for your ideals? If you need something super simple you might be able to just use ffmpeg.

Video editing is trivial compared to writing an emulator. Get davinci resolve. Anything else will just crash and lag.

V looks like it fits this bill even better than lua. It looks like a very useful and well designed language, but it is in an extremely rough state so it might be more worth keeping an eye on.

This doesn't make any sense for multiple reasons, but especially because you wouldn't be checking anything in the first place. A big endian system would would reorder bytes and a little endian system would just use it directly fro

I don't think most people would sell 3.5 billion dollars worth of stock haphazardly to temporarily spite a group of people a little bit. At %4 per year you can spend $380,000 every day for the rest of your life. There are probably be

Why even put them in network byte order? Every modern system is little endian, if you standardize on that, only exotic systems would have to deserialize anything.

I'm not even sure it's common for a lot of these website ls to test with a phone on its side. Sometimes between bars at the bottom and top there is no room for the actual site.

Making a compiler break with pretty much any file saved from a windows text editor is a very bold opinion, I can't say it would be my choice if I wanted to grow my user base.

My problem is that it doesn't actually work on windows. Get the latest build, run it with no arguments, get a large error instead of the REPL.

Lots of the crop of new languages with cleaner designs have huge problems with windows. V doesn't work on windows and zig's compiler fails if you use carriage return newlines. They even built in an error message for it instead

That's interesting, but even 2k scans of first gen film straight from the camera is far from razor sharp. What they have is probably a 3rd gen release print from the 70s, so 4k is likely not going to look fantastic by today's sta

I think misunderstood what I said - I can understand not learning C++ for toy programs, but at some point making thousands of users use an electron program is pretty silly.

You are being downvoted because the idea that electron is the only way to get cross platform GUIs is absurd and comes from inexperience and a lack of research. FLTK, Juce and Qt are just some of the options for creating cross platform UIs
