Weekly 1 on 1s with all reports is not useful or feasible. If you have 8 reports that's 10% of your work week swallowed.

I wrote C++ for relatively complex embedded guidance/positional apps for 5 years. I think I did it reasonably well - definitely better than 80% of my colleagues. Since then (10 years or so) I've been C# almost exclusively. This

I put on my eye-mask, earplugs, hoodie, take a double dose of sleeping medication (usually temazepam) and attempt to remain unconscious for as much of the flight as possible.

I don't know. Where I work no discernible pattern can be found with the "what" that broke. It's always the same f *ing people that break it though!
