I've tended to find the $300+ price tags on Loaded boards to be a bit high, but they are head and shoulders much better than anything you can find for $100. This is really exciting to see a motorized version of an actual good longboard.

It's not even just that it looks like longboard, it is an actual longboard that's been modified. It's a Loaded Vanguard from what I can tell which is a really nice board. The existing electric boards tend to be made specifically for the ele

Pretty fun. It'd be neat to be able to see your choice next to the correct version so you can visually see how "far" you were off.

I don't understand what happens if I "slip". It sounds like there's money involved, but it's not clear at all.

I actually don't know anyone that uses the archive function. My "inbox zero" equivalent is to have no unread e-mails as I often leave e-mails that I need to respond to or handle as unread.

How does this compare to what Music Theory says about chords and chord progressions? Any Music Theory experts/aficionados around? I've unfortunately forgotten most of what I learned in my one class on it.

One example is suppose I'm trying to tune some parameters and I'm going to do this by sampling. If I have only one parameter which is between 0 and 1 to tune, then I can find the best choice to within .01 by trying 100 values (each .01 incr

July might have spiked at 800 at some point, but average is around 300 for progamers ( http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Actions_per_Minute ).

I've done surface mount with a Radioshack soldering iron, solder, and some solder wick. It takes patience, but definitely doable. (Side note: Essentially had to be able to solder surface mount packages to pass a class in college.)

On my list of things to get around too. I don't expect it to be too hard as it's a fairly simple processor as specced. It'll be interesting to see what architecture techniques could be added to improve things while still remaining within sp

It can be fun single player too. There's no concept on "winning" then, but it's still challenging to find sets.

I think this extends some of your same ideas: You can't always learn with the expectation that everything has a perfectly applicable use case (i.e the point about learning Geometry to build a renderer). This may be fine if all you want to d

I used to play WoW at a relatively high level (no server firsts or anything, but end game raiding). I didn't always have the "best" UI add-ons installed and did some things that were considered beginner mistakes (keyboard turning ), but I k

How is Dark Sky able to predict weather on such short timescales? My impression has always been that weather prediction is fairly imprecise and so it only make sense in larger time scales (i.e. it will rain today, it will rain tonight).

My issue with being evaluated very often is that I find myself fixing small things so I have something to show rather than working on bigger issues. However, the "just do it" idea of the post is great.

Harder is not necessarily true. It depends on what you're trying to build. In terms of QDI Async circuits, the main disadvantage is an increase in wires. In synchronous circuits, a slow enough clock ensures that the computation is completed

I've switched to using foobar2000 ( http://www.foobar2000.org/ ) and I think it's the first music player that I actually like. It's extremely simple and I've found it quite fast and responsive, even on my netbook.

From talking to people working on on-chip non-volatile memory, my impression is that memristors are still too immature for production. If anything, phase-change memory seems more viable at this point in time.
