I read this a lot, but I do not agree. Worked on quite large (and busy) websites, did not experienced problems with exactly that. And if the project really is that large, perhaps it is time to split things up? (I intentionally avoid the ter

Waiting behind defensive players wont work in soccer/football... Those players are offside. This means they are not allowed to receive the ball from a team member.

Many reasons, full text indexing is a good one for example. Although mysql claims to have support for it, it is not as far as postgres is (with tsvector). It has many more extensions. It depends on what frameworks you use, but django is mos

There is absolutely no proof flux or night mode works. Night mode is not a substitute for less screen time.

I still use midnight commander every now and then. It is terminal based though. It is open source, feature packed and works cross platform.

Can’t you just install a more up to date compiler with brew? I don’t know if signing binaries works though.

Dont go with two dishwashers! Thought of this too. You need three. Seriously. You need one extra. Having two only works in theorical or lab situations. 1 for clean dishes 1 for dirty dishes 1 for “overflow” of dirty or clean dishes you will

I sort of was hoping for a big bang. Am I the only one? Landing these things will become the standard. mmillion dollar fireworks will not. Anyways, still very impressed.

This is crypto logic. In 'real' stocks this will be called a collapse for today or at least an extremely wild ride. I wonder how much technical analysis can be done to predict this. Just HODL!

You have no idea unless you try it. It is different. for example this network device is meant to make a network between all your iot devices, or over a cross provider cloud infrastructure. It does not route all tradfic through a vpn server.

Instead of being a VPN it is a virtual network device. It creates a private virtual ipv6 network. It acts like being on a local network, so all devices inside that network are visible. Software defined networking and all that. Quite impress

Agree! Most of us techies think tech is more important than sales. We also loathe bad design decisions. But your customers (in most cases) don't care! But I always wonder exactly "what" is easier with mongo or another NoSQL d

You probably need a faster CPU ;-) No problem with cpu usage here though, but I do have uBlock origin installed. AnandTech can be a nice site to visit every now and then!

Pycharms 2017 debugger (pydev), is much faster now. You meed to use python 3.6 though. The debugger window suggests to install some bindings. If you do that the debugger runs much much faster.

And after moving to linux start an "Ask HN" topic "what tools can replace macos tools on linux". Your comment would be: "not having all the tools available is a symptom of using linux as a desktop os".

Yes but arch is not a serious production/server os. Although some of you may do it. Most servers/business run on (not the latest) redhat/suse/debian/ubuntu and derivates. They dont have kernel versions that recent.

LSD happens to be really really cheap! Like €4,- so microdosing is probably cheaper than smoking. They say it also lasts for many hours. The rest of your points are still valid though :)

There are a lot of reasons to upgrade! There is so much more useful stuff in python 3! Even if you think you would not use those features, other libraries you may use might benefit a lot from it. A few features: async/await, lists (a

If you keep up with releases it usually is quite alright. Switching LTS versions causes a lot of drama indeed. But that is to be expected.
