The Midwest makes some sense for building fabs. The two largest inputs are power and water - and the midwest has plenty of both. There's a small but thriving fab community in Minneapolis. Hilariously, there isn't much in the way o

There are a few options for smaller fabs. There's SiView from IBM, a few products from Inficon which can handle much of an MES's capabilities and some others: [1] https://www.ibm.com/products/siview [2] http

I just looked up how much energy my last dryer load used. It came in just shy of 6kWh. The unit is a standard electric dryer, around 10yr old. Just wanted to provide some additional data. We do about 4 loads per week here. I hope that the

I'm not really seeing it. In most of the workflows I've used, one person is responsible for maintaining most of the document including the bibliography. The other coauthors will add in notes requesting to add in a new item, etc. Z

I believe that they support WebDav. https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/webdav_services You also have an option to use the Zotfile extension to sync with other services.

At least in Massachusetts, much of the data are being imported from state GIS resources. House data, street data, etc. Most of the mapping which needs to be done are enhancing the park data, etc.

$20 / yr is perfectly reasonable. GM wants $50/mo for that service. The basic on/off, lock / unlock function is still $25/mo.

I love our induction stove - on the same burner that I can boil a full pot of water in 2m, I can keep a soup going at a precise simmer. I could never get our old gas stove setup that precisely.

I doubt that they’re cheaper to install if you’re already putting in air conditioning. Plus you save the $30/mo meter fee from the gas company.

Is there anything which prevents non-CSAM images from being added into this catalogue? As I understand it, the only thing stopping that is a promise from Apple - which can be steamrolled by a government request.

I’d suggest that dense city living without the suburban sprawl would be the ideal. Pack the people in, and free up as much open space and agricultural land as possible.

To be fair, many of the outdoor eating spaces are 8-10ft wide, 20+ feet long and have substantial structure like roofs. An SUV is probably be easier to tow out of the way.

We’ve recently transitioned to Salesforce for a project. It’s remarkable how laggy the interface is. Removing a line from a quote takes three clicks and four seconds. The UI also doesn’t always refresh the items in a reasonable period of ti

Because silicon carbide has a wide band gap, you can use it to switch higher voltages. This means lower current losses through wiring. It also can operate at higher temperatures more effectively, so it can be driven harder than a silicon tr

I wonder if those plants are just particularly good at leaching lead from soil. Phytoremediation is an area of active study for cleaning toxic soils.

The other tip with the instant pot I’ve found is to put your food in a glass bowl on the steamer tray in the instant pot. This way you can add exactly the amount of water, and you don’t make a mess of the pot.

The Superfest glass process is very similar to what is used to produce Gorilla glass. The glass is heated up and submerged in or sprayed with a potassium solution. The hot glass matrix opens up enough for potassium ions to diffuse into it.
