I care about stability. Its a must. And my Win2003 is absolutly reliable. In old desktop I had random BSODs due to driver issue. Some Audio driver was not happy about PAE and 8GB RAM. After long fight I isolated faulty .sys driver and decid

Not bad. I like KISS concepts. I personally run old Cacti instance for monitoring here. Not that simple as uMon, but not very complicated either. And even wrote cacti_con CLI like graph viewer, to see specific port of that fat 100+ ports ca

Yeah, I am aware of that problem. Windows seems to store TIME differently that UNIX so it should be all right here. But I have dozens of old Linux 32 bit servers here and there... As for RAM, well I have 16GB RAM and its pretty much upper l

Yeah, I track ReactOS. Unfortunately, its not stable to my needs. I would really like it in better shape.. Im too old/tired to try to contribute to it sadly :( Writing OS today is nightmare because of drivers. HW vendors are shady, HW

Well, I have them, but they arent really Win2003 but XP.SP1, and they seems to be incomplete. If you have better source, I am all ears :D Anyway, those sources are handy to check some internals of Win2003. I have few binaries hex edited so

I yet to have to find my new great OS. Im 100% sure it wont be Windows. I have an eyes on some minimalistic Linux distro. But who knows, maybe Haiku will grow enough, before I will be forced to make a switch. As for staying in past, im not

I have quite a bit of tools/progs or game mods that pretty much nobody uses. Mostly because they are very niche and long dead OS. Same for games, nobody plays them anymore. Is this making me sad? A bit, because would be cool to share a

Ahh ok, this makes sense. Well, I barely use my corpo Win10. I hate it. Cygwin64 helps a lot, but still if I can do work on my desktops Ill do it there. Basic stuff can be done on Win10 in shell (bash). So, cannot say much about Win10 + msy

Hmm, I think I am not following. Why using msys2 bash on top of WSL2? You either using WSL or cygwin/msys2. GIT is slower on cygwin, especially stat() with do hacks to check for +x mode. But once cache is warm, it works fine. Albeit, I

Cygwin64? Im using it all the time on Windows 10. Without it I would be huge pain to use Windows at all. Pretty much everything works fine over cygwin64, I didnt yet find a tool that has problems. And I like that its just cygwin.dll providi

I myself went to other way around. While my VPN infra is very stable, I went into repo route. I use my very simple DVFS repo utility to sync files and never looked back. I like to have multiple copies of stuff here and there.

I damn agree. Especially older cygwin stuff is very very fast. I personally still use my own fork of cygwin-1.3 DLL for my old windoze. Works like a charm and I can use cool terminal (bash) with all CLI tools I love so much.

Hmm, I've read this one: "These .xlf files are generated and contain translated strings for each locale." So why to store them under VCS at first place? I think they are doing it wrong.
