Same here. Im very happy with tinc-vpn. It can easly push 100Mbit traffic through my severs and thats enough for my needs. Also, auto-mesh is very nice feature. I do NOT want to forward traffic via my central hubs. Note: I use tinc-vpn only

Thats very strange. I use tinc-vpn exclusivly for my network. Both Linux, Win32, and FreeBSD. Everything is very stable. But I have to admit, I have private fork of tinc-vpn specifically for Win32. AFAIR I did only minor changes to TAP driv

Laptops are great servers? Hmm I beg to differ. They are very compressed, so they heat up a lot. You need low power server? Go for Atom like CPU with good case. My home server running D2550 and 2x 1TB HDD is less than 40W. PSU is cold.

In ideal world it would not matter, but business and politics are intermixed more or less pretty much everywhere. Unfortunatelly, countries like Russia or China have much more politics influence. Hence, I try to avoid them.

Now worries. OSM have open data. Just mirror PBF files. Once something bad happen to OSM itself, you can easly respawn new instance. All building blocks are open source.

Its not only about Cloudflare. All those big companies are very centralized and try to control Internet more and more.. In my opinion battle is kinda over because 99.9% of people want ready to use product not contributing anything (consumer

You are underestimating amount of energy waste for bullshit jobs. Its huge. Only a fraction of population handles those importand hi-tec jobs. Majority of jobs are for services. And a lot of jobs are bullshit jobs, like: lawyers, judges, ou

Oh, thats not that simple. Curves in nature are never linear or exponental. They are mixed, depending on several factors. But always you will hit plateau. Not understanding it means you are poor at math. Just take a look at human population

Haha.. funny argument. Feeding is just one problem. There are few to handle more: - providing goods for people - managing their biological waste - managing their technological waste All those needs energy, from whatever source.. And we cann

10B ppl, we can make it! lulz... I wonder when people will wake up and stop following that stupid never ending economy growth pattern. Its just impossible.. Nothing in nature grows for ever.. ok.. except blackholes but thats special case...

Exacly that! I do the same. Accessing of internal resources hosted on LAN? No problem, just make overlay VPN network. Need to host something via HTTP? mod_proxy to the rescue. IPv6 is junk protocol, overengineered. I hope IPv6 will be used

Dude really? The cost of working from home is absolutly minimal. You gain much more than you loss. You do NOT waste time and money commuting. You can eat healtier food. You can take break when you really need it. People who say that they ne

Hmm, thats cool, but I need to have raster maps pushed to my endpoints. Do you know any easy way to use mvt maps and generate tiles from them on the fly (CGI backend + caching) and then use Leaflet to render those? I have my own tiny person

Ahh right... The neutron corrosion. Same problem with fussion reactors. The problem is, there is no material that can survive this imo. The only one we know that can, exists in neutron stars and its ultra dense. Its unusable by us (differen

Hell yeah. Im still using my dated Win2003 desktop (classic theme) to do most work. Clear UI, fast. When I have to use my corpo Win10 I get chills. Terrible UI, slow UX, everything just gets in the way so you cannot do your job.

Are you sure it was drivers issue? Not HW fault? I have good memories of Win2003 (and XP too) Very stable system, if drivers are correctly written. Back in the days I remember fighting with random BSODs on Audio play/stop on Win2003. A

Haha :) I still do so for some old legacy games. The biggest patching project was AI War: Fleet Command. Great game, but quite a bit of bugs and missing features. Spend weeks in CIL decompiler, understanding code and then making patches.

I love such comments. Humans got here because they are able to solve abstract problems and analitical thinking. Go ahead and pass it all to AI. Whats left? An useless consumer... (go go Skynet :)
