When learning new languages, by far the best project I've seen is the minimalist task manager. It accepts only command line parameters, and just actions to add, edit, remove and print. But it covers: - control flow - strings - array

There's flash a game that does it, but you have to buy the progressive upgrades with in-game money: http://armorgames.com/play/3955/upgrade-complete Except it doesn't end at anything near photorealistic.

Awesome. My only concern is the time to set up the wings, which seems quite a work. He says the wings are under a zipper, and there's the big mast that needs to be raised, this can't be quick.

People have said it many times before, but there's no such flag in this version of Chrome (11.0.696). Is it OSX specific?

Tested with Chrome 11.0.696 (couldn't find the Web Audio flag), Opera 11.10, Firefox 6.0a1 and even Internet Explorer 9. No sound at all. Can someone give a description of what's supposed to happen?

I think the problem is that the user may want to seek parts of the movie. Maybe downloading just the next minutes and lowering the quality for a few seconds after a seek could help. Not so much wasted data and still acceptable seek time.

The TiGr is our titanium lock system, it’s secure, versatile, elegant, light, easy to use and easy to store. A really secure bike lock that’s actually sexy. I think that's a good enough elevator pitch.

Can we get a user preference, as the case with show_dead and topcolor? I don't see that could be bad for anyone. "Show score on posts: (yes/no)"

There's also a "turtle" module that came included in my Py3k distribution. Not sure about 2.x versions. Giving commands like "turtle.forward(10)" opens an asynchronous tk window showing the "turtle" (an arrow, really) and a line where it ha

Your 3G plan, in your country. Please don't be so quick to dismiss movements that could help other people but not you. Here, a 3G plan with 1 gigabyte cap costs 90 bucks per month. The 8 GB plan is almost half the minimum wage. I would kill

Wait, are you talking about articles on HN? Because only comments have their score hidden, you can still see how many points each article has. My point was comparing newspapers brands/articles to HN comments , not articles, since you don't

A better example would be choosing which newspapers to read based on your friend's recommendations, versus choosing by yourself. All articles from the same newspaper share a source and it already ensures some quality.

Question: for the random number generator, instead of changing the internal prime numbers, can't you use a seeded generator (e.g.: mersenne twister), using the "i" value (the function number) as a seed?
