I program R daily (admittedly mainly for statistics) but I don't feel this pain at all. To me, R feels like a more sane JavaScript. Are you missing type safety or better OOP?

Why is R not decent? The performance could be better but what else?

That's obvious but not at all what I responded to in my post. I responded to the claim that ML courses start with the definition of precision and recall. In my admittedly limited experience those courses start with linear regression an

I haven't taken a lot of data science classes but I'm not sure that's true. If you start with linear regression the mean squared error would make more sense. I actually searched through "The Elements of Statistical Learn

Regarding precision/recall, I've a background in financial econometrics and this is the first time I encounter the terms.

Looks interesting, which features do you intend to cover? How are you going to onboard people with previous (extensive) experience using spreadsheets but not with feature X?

Tell me more about the dictatorships replacing Salazar and Franco. Honestly, I don't think you're judging the man fairly. You point out everything he could possibly have done wrong and completely ignore his good deeds.

Hmm, but I would think that a quaternion represents a rotation in R^4 (for which I lack intuition).

Are they A/B testing this or is acceptance IP-based? I reinstalled recently and I didn't see it. Firefox in private navigation mode also lets me use it without forcing me to agree with anything.

Which TOS? I might have accepted terms when I created a Google Account but in no way do I agree to a TOS by visiting a URL.

Off the top of my head: When plotting in R the name of the names of the variables in the caller of the plot function are used as axis labels. This is pretty nifty and plotting without feels very unnatural to me (now).
