Given that this is wood, I'd worry about movement, but wouldn't this be better used in windows than in screens, where it would have far better insulating properties than glass? If that's the case, the "sustainability&quo

My guess is deniability, just like Apple. Apple wanted to make CSAM detection work and make iPhone essentially a weapon law, but when their users hit back, they just made iCloud e2ee. With the number of child predators on FB, I am guessing

I find most “philosophies” regarding work to be BS. Honestly most teams just get too big. People don’t know each other and this allows things to go unseen for too long. When people know one another and work together in real time, and have h

Just a personal anecdote here. I use Wayland and Pipewire on Slackware 15 which is in absolutely zero sense a cutting edge distribution. While I do have a newer kernel (6.6) than what ships in Slackware, I haven't really modified any o

I’ve used Ada. I’ve not used Rust beyond a few hello world type programs. Personally, I like Ada quite a bit, and I really do like Spark. But I think that Ada and Rust are aiming at similar problems in entirely different ways. One of the ke

Sure, I guess. Just act like all of those vision impaired folks don't exist, and put the entire website in JS that their screen reader can’t handle. Nice.

You are correct as far as anyone alive today can know. I would just add that there was quite a bit of cultural aversion to non-agricultural enterprises among the senatorial class. Merchants and tradesmen were looked down upon. This was made

I’d love to get my hands on one of these. They’re MIPS machines that are on-par with the Intel core i3 14100. Loongson is also involved with Deepin Linux, so they’re attempting to build out a Chinese-native technology stack. While I general

More likely we will just have iterative improvements over what already exists, more things uselessly connected to the internet, and maybe better batteries. I’d love something crazy, but… not likely.

You’re making the assumption that the current property tax would end and be replaced. Unless this was all done at the county level, that most likely wouldn’t happen. Even then, many jurisdictions would just double tax. They’d argue that one

Just imagining. The thing is, there’s so much subsidy involved in oil to keep it cheap that the price of oil without subsidy would have greatly encouraged earlier development of renewables. The price on renewables then would have fallen. Th

All x86 software being run on macOS relies on Rosetta 2. It effectively does a translation of x86 binaries to ARM binaries. Then, WINE handles the PE to mach-o translation along with providing a system call translation from Windows to *nix.
