This reminds me very much of transputers. The idea here is that each cpu can context switch extremely quickly with minimal latency to any resource and you have a topology that is great for matrix maths as a result.

Underneath the software, there’s still a filesystem with files. If you stand up an S3 instance with Ceph, you still have a filesystem on spinning rust or fancy SSDs. There’s just a bunch of stuff on top of that. It’s cool, but to say that t

Apple appeals to a totally different customer. They want something that they’d needn’t fuss with. The other Apple customer is the developer who’s forced into ownership so that he/she can sell to that first Apple customer. Edit: until t

David Peterson is paid to make languages for a living and has made many. He’s excellent at it. More importantly, he doesn’t get to do whatever he wants. Sometimes, he’s told to keep to source material, and other times he isn’t. In the end,

I don’t think this works well. English is absolutely “Germanic” but it doesn’t neatly fit into any grouping grammatically, lexically, or audibly. The influence of French, and milder influences of Gaelic languages have transformed the langua

I grew up hearing German, Schwaebisch, English, Latin, and French regularly. Dutch is readable for me, but hearing it is sometimes completely foreign.

The gemstone comparison is quite apt. Hadn’t thought of it that way. Of course, humans will place meaning in anything/everything if they don’t train themselves not to do so. I’d love someone to do a blog where all it is is tearing apar

Upvoted ya cuz you’re correct. However, I’d add that while nature can absolutely create straight lines, it is often advisable to investigate for prior human activity if you stumble upon a straight line in a cave or under the ocean.

I am not aware of any Linux distribution that has no package manager (except for LFS, which isn't a distribution per se). Source-based systems typically have some kind of package manager. Gentoo: portage, GoboLinux: Compile, Slackware:

No matter the estimation, no matter the probability, the history of scientific inquiry has shown that reality is weirder than the wildest of human imaginings. Let’s just go and find out for sure, and maybe write less clickbait, yeah?
