To support this, all of these proxy wars have covert units by the major nuclear powers conducting efforts directly against the other side. If these are ever exposed directly, political pressures will likely escalate the war. The moment one

Yeah, things are better than ever in most metrics, but this is also the issue with metrics. Those same metrics do not cover two current wars that involve nuclear powers and the risk of these two wars becoming global conflicts. Those metrics

The USA has the largest tax haul of any nation on Earth at $5.5 trillion. That the US government squanders that tax haul is indicative of the corruption, incompetence, and malevolence of the US government’s officials and bureaucrats.

I wrote about 3dfx. Crazy thing is, it was the same people who were at SGI and then Pellucid. Additionally, ATI and Nvidia can trace their technology back to SGI… fun times. https://www.abortretry.fail/p/so-powerful-its

It's really awesome that this was a complete reimplementation with no Linux code, and it's additionally awesome that this is available for both XP/2k3 and ReactOS. I will have to try it out on one of my older machines :-)

Well, do remember the cost of a UNIX license at the time (unless you were using BSD). If you didn’t have thousands of dollars on hand, NT was a good choice.

I always preferred the look and feel of KDE1 over all other GUI environments. Glad to not be alone.

They must have been jealous of Alphabet’s profits. Honestly, they need to change or they’ll lose the market. Apple has grown quickly, and Linux is actually seeing decent growth thanks to SteamDeck. There’s also been Chromebooks, but I don’t

Configuration, deployment, program initialization/start is all still “user interface” just a different part. Most software feels like that part was largely an after thought and not part of the design process.

First, be upfront about pricing and make it simple. Second, have good documentation and make it easily accessible. Third, either in your interactive demo or in your video, make it extremely obvious what problem you’re trying to solve. You d

Personal opinion, a home lab is the perfect place to learn how to actually configure things and properly set them up: no docker, no ansible, no salt… take off the training wheels and learn it. Then, learn to write your own playbooks, your o

I dunno that it’s really all that different. EFI is sort of what DOS would likely have become if MS had kept with it. It uses PE format, has back slash paths, has the same .3 extensions, and so on. There are certainly many similarities.

Eh, the USA’s history seems to confirm it. I’m not really sure about others, but I’d be surprised if countries that are dependent upon one another were at war with one another.

A very close friend of mine was murdered at 18, his sister was a year younger and she matured very quickly as a result of this experience. She’s now in her early 20s and you’d assume she’s 35 by her personality and view points.

“Not good” but still better than the alternative. I for one think it’s great that most children live to become adults, that most adults make it past 50, and that most people aren’t dying of violence. We still have stuff to work on as a spec

Even with that, cancers metabolize sugars. The more sugars you put into your body, the faster and larger cancer cells can get. Add to this that sugars are inflammatory, and this heightens cancer risks. Add to both of those factors and incre
