I miss the days when this was possible. Apple used to make a big deal about this sort of thing too. Too bad. I did stop using Macs a few years ago. When my iPhone 11 dies I’ll probably switch to an older Pixel and install GrapheneOS on it.

I always use Brave first, and when that fails, I try Bing. If Bing fails, I try Google. Most of the time, I can just use Brave.

So, uh, Copilot+PC, how much of their AI computer thing would be completely useless right now?

Yeah. I like Brave Search. In my own usage it seems to offer far more useful results rather than 5 pages of ads.

I feel your pain. Thankfully, even the archive occasionally takes stuff off.

Not just personal sites, but even news sites. Storage is expensive. Site owners don’t want to hold stuff forever, and the Archive cannot afford to hold everything forever either.

People never picture themselves as being among those great numbers who suffer and die in these scenarios.

Nah. Politicians will still have the wrong incentives, and they’ll just let the poor die. Meanwhile the rich will buy up all arable land, and all land not largely affected. Following that, they’ll tighten control of national borders to stop

Well, also, plastic waste getting dumped in water ways, and in the USA, steel and coal waste being dumped into the Ohio (causing a huge dead zone in the Gulf). There are serious pollution problems everywhere, and I kind of hate the climate

I really don’t like to put down the creative work of others, but yeah. The motion stuff made me realize just how great UIs like Win95 and early Mac System were. I love creativity and experimentation, but I dislike lots of motion, lots of an

From what I saw in their video, there’s a top bar that on mouse-over expands and becomes a virtual desktop switcher with an arbitrary number of virtual desktops. Otherwise it appears to be a somewhat standard floating window setup. I didn’t

No. Poverty is the default no matter what. From there, there are really only two methods of human interaction. The economic or the political. The economic means are voluntary and the political means are force. So far, all attempts at creati

Were there some other intelligent species (or even our own) that developed some advanced civilization before 13 thousand years ago, we’d have evidence in plant and animal life. Supporting large populations required humans to selectively bre

Well, the hardware isn’t actually too severe as it’s paid upfront for very long time periods. The real cost isn’t even the salary. One system professional might be 150k, so let’s say employees are going to cost 500k for the system. I imagin

If more people did this (across many different industries) life would likely be substantially better. However, humans always optimize for the wrong things.
