I don't think it's that SD and LLMs are solutions looking for problems, it's that there are very clear problems to which they provide 90% of a solution and make it impossible to clear the last 10%. They're the new WYSIWY

The webcrap industry is crap because most of the people in it believe it can be automated lol. All the shittest most inefficient projects I've been on have been loaded to the gills with libraries, frameworks, dev tools and convoluted t

I agree completely with the underlying principles, I just think once the CEO has commented and stirred up some interesting discussion that's relevant to a large segment of your userbase, the thread doesn't really belong to some ge

I don't really buy that to be honest. I read this whole thread before the CEO posted and after, and neither time thought any of the comments were out of line or even that the general mood was any more heated than any other random HN th

Why are you posting flowery sales bullshit on a site full of devs? lol As someone that's been using React and Express for the better part of 10 years, what are you adding on top that would provide value? Because my first thought whenev

Commercial leases for large offices are pretty long. I think 8-10 years or longer is fairly normal? If you're stuck with 5 more years of 2019 rates and all your competitors have downsized, your cost per employee is going to be much hig

Yep, that's why there are so many Bloomberg articles jacking off RTO. It's a better investment to shout about how everyone else should RTO than to do it yourself. Shareholders and board members don't want their company to R

Yep. IME the only way to make a salaried team of 10 devs work efficiently is to have enough work that you can split it cleanly into 5-10 projects that 1-2 people can own and work on autonomously. Too bad every team I've ever worked on

I don't know how you can put TS in the S-tier when the community is hell bent on making every codebase as unreadable and complicated as possible.

I dunno, after experiencing the 20 fps boost from DLSS I'm starting to think indoor plumbing and the wheel might've been a bit overrated.

Nothing is more unreadable than "readable" names. I absolutely detest working with code that uses for example stuff like ImmutableJS, that turns every property access into `.get('')` instead of a simple `.` operator. I w

If they needed to find safer legal ground they could reimplement the community balance patch, which overhauls basically every game system, and is a much better game tbh.

It's not a zero sum game. All the enterprise companies hiring 3,000 engineers only need a tiny fraction of their software to run their core businesses, and most of it is legacy. When a tech recession hits and clears out the clown car,
