FWIW, the popping speakers are a software related issue, many users who updated to a recent version of Catalina have reported the issue has been fixed for them. Also, thermal throttling has not really been an issue with the new 16" MBP

Likewise was skeptical about FaceID, but it is really much nicer to have than TouchID. I'm not a sweaty person at all, but whenever I picked up a DualShock controller for a minute and put it down, my hands were too moist for TouchID to

Fair enough. I'm glad more states are following suit. Both of us appear to understand the differences between the systems and so I don't think we should be bogged down with semantics. Israel has a single-payer public healthcare s

It is, yeah. If you go to the ER and are admitted, you pay literally nothing, even if you needed an ambulance. Subsidized medication is extremely cheap, etc etc..

Oh, but that's such a minor expense I don't consider it at all. It's an extra 10$ a month for the absolute majority. Top insurance is about 25$ a month. Practically negligible for the absolute majority of people and nothing l

I think a considerable amount of Toyotas are actually made in the US, ironically, so you might still call it American made :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Toyota_factories#Unite...

Here in Israel the majority of large health providers are essentially contractors, are largely indistinguishable and don't compete on price at all. Everybody pays a health tax as a percentage of their income. You don't have to pay

I actually love my MBP 2015's keyboard, and the trackpad is for me the ergonomically-superior choice. I don't have any wrist pain no matter how long I work on it, and the gestures are brilliant and useful. The screen size is the

Assuming changes can be made in order to be approved while still being true to their goal (which is essentially escaping from law enforcement). Apple rejected the app explicitly because of what it was trying to achieve.

Recently had a discussion with a colleague about JSON in C++. It's actually a big issue, because reflection isn't really supported in C++. It's not just a blocker for parsing objects as JSON, it's a fundamental limitati

I have a similar issue I think: I can't get YouTube to remember my Autoplay, Dark Mode and language settings at all, even though I'm logged in. EDIT: Maybe not 'not at all', but it's remembered for a very short whil

To be even more fair... ;) We don't know what Apple does when they replace batteries for customers. Maybe there's a calibration process or something of the sort. After all they're reporting battery health, which nobody else d

To be fair, you'll get the "service battery" message even if you place an original Apple battery in the iPhone. A used device that was serviced perfectly well but not by Apple will still display this message. All this means i

Yeah I've seen this page. I meant a policy which is a bit more specific, applying only to games rather than to all apps. Something akin to Steam's policy where you can get a refund no questions asked if you haven't played too

Woah, take it easy there, Satan! ;) Kidding aside, it's clear that the model for paying up front for something you don't know you'd like isn't ideal. I think it's simple and honest, which is great, but it's not

The sad thing is that it wasn't even fixed after they added those membrane, it only reduced the failure rate by a small margin. You can still find pretty much just as many reports online of the same failures.

I'm not sure you're aware of this, but there's a distinction between wait-free and lock-free. http://rethinkdb.com/blog/lock-free-vs-wait-free-concurrency... This might be relevant to answering your ques

Any CPU-bound application should see benefits as far as I understand it. Spending less time in the driver generally means spending more time doing useful things.

I think a factor of importance is how much selective pressure there is that could lead to their creation. The sporadic and fairly arbitrary use in humans doesn't create a selective pressure strong enough to create these superbugs in me
