While the water issue is, indeed, quite serious, I'm not exactly sure why the 'increased traffic on highway' is so much of a concern that it's raised in the same article. Yes, traffic will increase because more people wi

This isn't about the moral qualities of people there, it's about the impact the company has on the housing market and how it treats AirBnB owners. There are links in the comments here to studies on the harm AirBnB does, nobody sai

Out of curiosity, are there any more ethical alternatives to AirBnB? My partner travels a lot for work and doesn't like staying in hotels. He's fine with staying in rooms vs. whole apartments (which seems to be the biggest strike

It's a great post anyway, sorry if my tone was too critical. I enjoyed reading it, for what it's worth, just felt like expecting anything surprising or revelatory out of it wouldn't be the right approach.

Is that not common knowledge? I feel like this is a well-written post with a good point but it's a familiar point. You could boil part of it down to 'all's good in moderation', so don't just keep your code clean, ke

This is fascinating. Are there any cases where the queen was encouraging the move? Or do they always opt to stick with the flooding home until the end? I guess what I'm asking is if it's dependent on the specimen or an instinct.

Literal 'baby steps', hah. The fact that they disable 'save' features might be because they don't want it to mess with their statistics, I guess? Like, they want to see how many people are leaving stuff to watch

The cool thing about this for me is that list of the 'worst of 1924'. It highlights that we're trying to preserve ALL media. Not the best of the best, not some cherry-picked list made up by a bunch of critics. Every single fl

Honestly, while I'm one of the people who does this a lot, I don't think it always benefits me. I don't watch 'TV', just streamed stuff but I rarely bother to pause it when I look up these details. And that absolute

It feels crazy to me to see 'make training profitable'. A) Not everything has to bring you a profit, jeez. B) You know how you profit from training? By actually providing solid training to pilots who then fly your planes skillfull

I've recently had a similar problem with Spotify. My account was stolen. In part because I did not have 2FA turned on... because the app doesn't offer it for some reason. And, in part, because whoever logged into my account from a

Well, I don't see much reason to get a smart TV if I won't be using it as a smart TV. Both people in the household are fine watching on a medium-sized screen, why spend $300-400 just to watch on a bigger one with no other benefits

Pretty cool article and highlights the problem of Smart TVs well. I don't think I'll ever get a smart TV but I'm privileged in this because my husband is fine with watching movies on a PC monitor and we don't plan to hav

That would require to join Facebook and I'm not coming back there. I'm aware of WhatsApp being E2E, yeah, everywhere except for backups. Another user replied that Facebook plans to go E2E completely, that's surprising but goo

Is this advertised anywhere, like in clear wording? On the site, in the app, etc. If it is, good on them. If not, kind of worrying. Simply saying "We have E2EE so you can trust us now" and not actually clarifying where E2EE is app

Sesame Street was just beautiful at dealing with these complex subjects in a way that was both easy to digest for kids and nuanced. Portrayed all emotions, highlighted things that you, as a child, wouldn't learn from adults as those mi

The weight loss is cool and all but it seems like a bad idea to just start doing this method until there's a long-term study about the effects this has on your body. What if you stick to it for a few years and ruin your body? 12 weeks
