This started worth talking about notation. Notation of mathematics has changed significantly over time - Newton's Principae is not readable without accounting for changes. In the history of maths, that is a fairly recent work.

In my experience, most news nowadays has an agenda: selling itself. Newspapers and the main tv news have become far more clickbaity and far less informative. These used to be fairly decent sources of news; nowadays, you'll learn what s

Zelda four swords adventures managed that on the cube already. Not quite suddenly, I'd say. Awesome game if you had 3 friends and the necessary hardware.

I'm sorry, I must be missing some subtelty here. If renting is indeed cheaper than owning, landlords would be subsidising renters. That can't be correct...

Fair enough - though my car "only" has a 60L tank, so I'd expect much better for modern cars (driven in optimal conditions).

Hmms. 2k km isn't bad, but i don't consider this amazing either: my 12-year old big and heavy car can do 1300 km on a full tank. Sure, that's in ideal conditions, but so is this. And there is plenty of simple improvements tha

Frankly, it isn't weird to pay to access a scarce resource. Now we're paying with our personal details... paying with other means might turn out better for society.

That's what i used to think, but GP alluded to weak interaction between DM particles. I thinkt interaction consumes energy. If so, DM particles would be able to shed some momentum... but then they (eventually) could clump into black h

I was wondering about black holes created from dark matter only. I mean: if there's 5x as much stuff that has mass (and, thus, can form black holes), there should be 5x as many black holes - at least, that's what I'd expect

I've got two problems with this. First: if theory and observation don't match up, that can be due to lacking theory or lacking observations. Both should be investigated. Second: all candidates for dark matter i know posit an enor

Born & raised in the EU, have had a phone for 25ish years. Have never encountered SMS spam. Most I've had is 3 or 4 cases of SMS phishing attempts (which isn't spam).
