Camino was actually a separate, but similar slim-down project for Mac. It had Mac OS Cocoa controls, so it fit in better. Camino was originally named Chimera. It was started by Dave Hyatt, the guy who went to Apple to build Safari and WebKi

I don't understand what you're talking about. GameCube emulation is excellent. You can use the same emulator responsible for Wii, Dolphin, and it has great compatibility.

I think your ex was a little more intuitive than you think. Those accounts are never free. They just don't have an upfront "cost." You're gonna pay for it one way or another. You know the expression, TANSTAAFL.

Intel has already lost its role as chip provider with Apple. As a fab, if it outperforms TSMC as the parent suggests, it could provide manufacturing for Apple's designs. Of course, we'll have to see if Intel keeps up after final

GPUs have gotten to the state that anything not bottom of the barrel can do a composited desktop just fine. It's mostly ARM chips with anemic GPUs that can't do it. I'm looking at you, Raspberry Pi.

Clangd and rust-analyzer plugins aren't made by MS. Python has a couple separate ones, one of which the official Microsoft plugin uses. I think the only language needing a MS plugin is TypeScript, which is a MS language anyway.

From context, you know the post is talking about ghosting from image retention, not ghosting from motion blur. Please don't be pedantic. We're not all versed in the terminology.

I think the point you're trying to make is you can calibrate away LCD backlight luminance degradation because it's uniform across the panel. And you don't notice because your eyes adapt to the whole screen. With OLED, not so

The context in the GP post clearly shows a high-dpi screen. So I think a font designed for printers or high-dpi is appropriate for it. Verdana is actually undersized relative to most fonts. The ascender range is too large, so the baseline i

Too big and improperly hinted contradict each other. At the high DPI this screenshot was taken, hints wouldn't be used for normal fonts. There are certainly still problems with spacing in various KDE applications, but this screenshot i

Direct scanout resolves that. If you're one of those people that disables vsync, that's being worked on. VRR works well on kwin/Wayland, too. Gnome has fallen behind on that a bit.

That does look like they have their own shader ir converter. But the fact that there's d3d9-d3d12 there, and under a wine directory, means those parts, at least, are borrowed. That this exists is hilariously self-defeating. Linux gamin

That article didn't really clarify on the actual D3D to Metal conversion, so the specifics are still unknown. From what I see, though, it doesn't look like Apple's solution is novel, and I doubt it would be considering this i

Rust in the kernel is a whole different beast than what most people think--no standard library, no cargo or external crates, some memory safety features removed. It's kind of just an alternative syntax.

At this point there isn't any significant infrastructure for building microled displays anywhere. Why invest in a competitor when they would do the same exact thing you would, but they would own it?
