I have the same reflex when companies use the words "your data"... that data lives in a server owned/rented by them, in a database/source code I have no access to.

Customize the hell out of Fedora. It is rock solid on most hardware. Once you get used to it, you won't want to use anything else.

Reddit website unusable on mobile, it cuts all images in half for me (Nokia 3.1 and Samsung A51), and it's just laggy. I use RedReader from F-Droid instead.

Yes but those certain professionals can now only upgrade to 16GB on a MacBook Pro in 2020 which is shameful. Oh and it's soldered so you have to buy the beefed up version today, cannot upgrade the RAM 6 months from now. Go look at a no

I'd say the IStockService with 15 methods and 10 dependencies are not a .net thing but rather <enterprizey-domain-driven-design-all-the-things-coolaid> thing. I've seen it in more than one shop and it totally makes sense why

I also want to stress that this is per class . Which in reality is madness. If you have just 50 immutable classes you have to replicate those 50 lines of boilerplate for each class and make sure it's bug free. It clutters your classes

Jisss to be honest the new PlayStation and Xbox hardware is amazing, specificially how the memory/cpu/mobo and streaming system will work. Wish we had something like that in PC land. Then again, their workflow is basically streami

Thing is, you can do it but with ceremony. You have to override Equals() and GetHashCode() for starters. Then you also need to make sure you only have getters and no setters (or private setters). In some cases you need to make your empty co

You also have to understand that shoving async down our throats is part of the philosophy of how aspnet core and kestrel (built ontop of libuv) is implemented: the whole stack is built to run async and with DI in mind. aspnet core itself us

The forced DI pattern makes sense here because: Most DI containers are not just injectors, but they also manage life cycles/scopes of objects: singleton/transient/scoped. Since in web development, a request hitting a controll

Not true at all. Maybe in the US but not elsewhere. I know more than a few developers that work on sub $999 laptops/machines. Specifically Dell/Lenovo laptops seems to be the go to, since they can get them with 16GB RAM + 1TB hdd

I guess they will also never bring back normal USB-3.1 ports. Guess I will have to keep my $5000 camera plugged into my Ryzen-based PC, it has 6x USB-3.1 ports. Oh and my studio microphone is also "old" usb. And my keyboard/m

How are companies still releasing hardware with 8GB RAM? My MacBook Air from ~2016 has 8GB of RAM. My first PC which had 8GB of RAM was built in ~2010 if I remember correctly. My current machine has 32GB. In all honesty, 32GB is not even mu

So we need a new tool that is basically git and rsync rolled into one. Might be easier to use something like zfs and use it's features to build a tool that behaves almost like git. Then a (zfs + rsync + [zfs-git hybrid]) monster is bo
