I was just barely working on a pacman clone about two months ago... turned into mostly just research. It turns out the ghosts follow rather simple patterns between two modes (spread out / attack) which turn into complex behavior, mostly due

It's an issue of passion, I think. Compare Apple fans to that of the XBox or PS3. For some horrible reason, people will defend to the bitter end their console of choice. Nothing is gained or lost in these arguments, the same arguments are c

I guess it's an ok idea (a manual version of that brushing your teeth = points thing from several months ago) but I would think if you have enough self control not to cheat on this, then you don't really need it.

Agreed completely. Not only is this not even news, it's not worth caring about... it's just a squabble with TC being the loudmouth, rallying it's readers against some target we're supposed to care about because they said so.

I find it particularly noteworthy due to fact that this blog has one page for desktop and mobile, and it fits damn near perfectly in both. In Android 2.1, the only things that don't stack up exactly right are the "Social Club" section in po

It is standard practice for Apple to request confidentiality from the FCC. But the request has been viewed as curious by some, considering that prototypes of the near-final iPhone 4 design were publicly disassembled, revealing many of the

Nothing like a post on Daring Fireball to keep the iPhone/Android loyalty war on the front page of HN. Does any of this really matter?

Firebug definitely has it's ups and downs, but in no way can I believe the IE6 mention is anything other than linkbait (right near the end, he says he's moving to Webkit's debugger). The most common problem I've run into with Firebug is tha

You don't need to hack your firmware to install other dialers. There are dozens on the android market. Edit: Dialer One's release notes for v1.2 say that an issue was fixed regarding United States emergency numbers. Not sure if that pertain

I'm not sure I would call it smooth in Chrome on Windows 7, and this is on a gaming PC (more or less). The process was also using 25% CPU, which I believe Process Explorer would report as one full core.

Much like the search industry, this isn't exactly Microsoft's forte[1]. I think they see the benefit in shipping something fresh, given that they're not exactly at risk of going much lower. 1: http://www.gartner.com/it/page.jsp?id=1372013

I was thinking earlier today how useless and tired these topics have become. Mentioning any of the three has too much potential to spark arguments that quickly devolve into gadget he said/she said. I don't know how anyone can read these wit

I'm sorry to rain on that parade, but that last paragraph is really glued on there. I don't disagree with the sentiment, but that exposition went straight in to a brick wall.

This. I can't imagine why I'd want to give a package to a person I've never met who has no obligation to deliver the package to it's destination. If I didn't care too much about the item being shipped... I wouldn't be shipping it.
