Just a note, before Slack a lot of the company was just using iMessage - nobody wants that, 30+ people group chats with messages at all hours of the day was the worst digital communication experience I've ever seen at a company.

This comment nails it - anyone who has had to investigate other offerings that satisfy the needs of project management, design, and engineering will quickly find that all the other options out there are total garbage in comparison to Jira,

This is not true - it's not necessarily obvious that things should hold when you're dealing with infinity as one of the bounds. In fact, there are cases where interchanging the order is not allowed when you're in that situati

My only complaint here is that it looks like after a while it recycles through the names - it should probably take you to a summary page once you reach the end of all the questions.

Comparable is generally not true - the difference is maybe ~$30k at best in DC vs. the Bay Area for example, but DC compensation is nowhere near what you can get in the Bay Area. The only thing in the US that beats it it seems is NYC area f

Can confirm as a senior engineer at a FAANG. I've rejected people for showing negative non-technical traits but being ok technically, and recommended people for hire with not the best technical skills but with excellent non-technical&#

A caveat on the caveat about cars - I live without a car in the suburbs just fine (Sunnyvale). YMMV, but for me a car would be more of a nice to have. I'll probably get one in a few years anyway after maybe buying a house here, but it&

I’d like to see more elaboration than a claim that her behavior is toxic - that is not helpful or conducive for spreading knowledge. I don’t see anything here that matches up to that claim at all, speaking as an outsider.

I actually moved to the Bay Area because long term it has the best compensation when accounting for cost of living that I calculated for net take home pay unless I wanted to move over to NYC fintech (definitely don’t want to). While $300k+

I don't see this issue having IntelliJ, Xcode, VSCode, Slack, Discord, and more open simultaneously on a continuous issue...with 16 GB of RAM. I'm somewhat impressed by some of these stories about RAM usage - what are people doing

I've had terrible customer service from Google's paid products as well. Google is intentionally customer service hostile overall because it's an area that defies automation.

On a side note, anyone else get janky behavior trying to scroll on the homepage here? It feels like a janky/simpler version of what you see for the Apple product pages.
