I pretty much agree. Especially for power users it sucks. Here are some strange points: - I can't run multiple instances of visual studio... - IE in Metro doesn't share cookies/settings with IE in desktop mode... - Closing apps is awkward..

I wouldn't run .NET software on Linux, I'd just stick to Windows Server. It's really solid nowadays, and there is enough choice (it isn't even more expensive than linux hosting). Check out Azure and AppHarbor for cloud hosting for example:

I tried IDEA, and it's nice and all (I love JetBrains software), but I can't say that it's a serious competitor to Visual Studio.

I take it that it's not popular around here because this site is full of Apple lovers, but there is not denying that C# is 'Java done right/better', so I really see no reason to use Java over C#. Furthermore C# has the best IDE in the world

I would prefer ASP.NET MVC (thus C#) over the Java platform. The .NET stack is extremely powerful (much better than Java imho) and the ASP.NET MVC framework has a lot of the features that make RoR great (it's just must faster than Ruby).

I dont want to spoil the party but: 1) You really don't need Git to do this. Can you bind almost anything you like to make a call to this randomfact website. 2) The site doesn't only state facts. It says that elephants are the only animals

How did you manage all those people? If there are so many people at the same time looking through your stuff, how can you be sure they don't run off and steal something?

Yes I wouldn't like it either because I don't use vim.

Same problem here, I was just about to post it. Chrome too. If I remove the 'overflow: hidden' from the #wrapper, it's centered.

The author probably never heard about the 'service layer' pattern. The problem that 'MOVE' is trying to solve is a non-existing one. If you're stuffing all your logic in your controller, you're doing it wrong. The logic should be in the ser

"Enterprise Integration Patterns: Designing, Building, and Deploying Messaging Solutions" is a classic for messaging. It's pretty advanced I guess, but beginners can understand it too.

Congratulations to the Java-programmers for getting a feature that virtually every other OOP language has had for about 10 years.

Take a look at MonoDroid ( http://xamarin.com/monoforandroid ) and MonoTouch ( http://xamarin.com/monotouch ). C# for 3 platforms: WP7, Android, iOS. Mobile web will never have the same benefits that a native app has: high performance, less

I guess you are right. I'm one of the (many) students who built 3 apps to get a free Nokia Lumia 800. To be honest: my apps aren't of really high quality. Why not? Well, two good reasons: - Building 3 GOOD apps in 2~3 months is just not pos

Sorry, but I find it really unprofessional when you comment on people's choice beforehand - people that you expect to help you. And by this I mean stuff like 'azure LOL'. Grow up. Azure IS a good choice for a lot of people.

I can recommend TortoiseGit, it's pretty good as far as I can tell. However, I still prefer the CLI for most tasks because it's just more flexible :)
