Superman is such a basic character that you can absolutely make stories about him without actually copying the character. Also, it's desirable to have your own character that you can merchandise exclusively. As an example, the Japanese

Re: colons for separators I think we should just define a .ip6 pseudo-tld and then you can write e.g. ff::12:34 as ff.x.12.34.ip6 (with .x. being the equivalent of ::). This should be enough for any practical purpose of users specifying fre

As long as you can link old-C++ and new-C++ together, there shouldn't be any big problems. You'll write your new code in new-C++ and wrap your old code in extern "old-C++". The same way you can mix C code in C++ projects

AFAIK C and C++ compilers are not allowed to re-order floating-point arithmetic precisely for that reason. Also, given that all cpus support SSE/Neon/etc. now and I haven't seen a compiler use the 387 FPU, I suspect registe

I would also like to know what exactly you mean. I've heard similar rants before and usually it boils down to 1) non-standard shortcuts, i.e. not implementing CUA; 2) being built around a terminal rather than designed around the capabi

As a full-time C++ developer, my only gripe with features like these is that they require nontrivial compiler optimizations in order to produce the equivalent "old-style" high-performance code. That leads to two issues for me: 1.

That's pretty much how commercial ray tracers work. Path tracing for scattered rays and GI, with ray tracing for evaluating direct light. Look at Cycles's code.
