looks like you can just use a connection URL, https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/libpq-connect.html#L... , it's possible to use it to connect to a unix socket that way.

The business world runs on Windows, no way around that unless you only need a simple cash register and inventory software.

The CPU is the bottleneck. All switching is done in software with off the shelf NICs.

A raspberry pi 400 can handle around 875 MBit when bridging two interfaces. So it’s not even fast enough for two ports let alone full duplex. I doubt a n100 can handle more than three.

The batteries used in cars sold today in the EU can be recycled by up to 95%, that’s good enough for me. Older lead acid batteries can be fully recycled, GM and Ford used those in their older EVs

The German autobahn is not orderly, every 5 minutes someone with more than 230 kph drives on the left lane and wants to kick you out of it when you dont get out of it asap. If you want a good example go to the Netherlands, i've never h

If you are using a piece of software which has a part that can take a long time to execute and doesn't allow it to set timeouts for long running operations then i would send a PR to solve that issue. When said software is closed source

(Almost) Every OS kernel has an API to handle timeouts. poll, select, kqueue, epoll etc. just use that.

maybe you are misremembering creating mp3 files from CDs, on a 486 it took quite a while to generate a mp3 from a 4 minute wav file. Pentiums with MMX made it quite alot faster.

On a related note: android devices try to continuously connect to all WiFi networks they have been connected to before, no matter if you are „near“ them or not. Doesn’t even matter if the access point is broadcasting the SSID or not. Found

Oh the joy it is to have a corrupted log file which the program that wrote it refuses to even read. Once you deal with that you’ll realize journald is just in the way and needs to be modified to output a human readable log by default.

Would buy something like this as a device you can connect via pcie to your server. No need to have switches and servers in your rack anymore, every server is a switch and every switch is a server with a 192 threads CPU. Insane.

You could just fingerprint the cpu then, every cpu behaves differently. Buy any number of the same CPU and you’ll see different aspects in every one of them.
