There's high demand now but a new building has to earn its keep for many decades. They're skyrocketing because of x, and x is because of y, and y is… the ultimate reason is that too little is being built. AFAICT too little is be

If I understand the polls correctly, the federal government was intended to be what it is, in the sense that the parts were intentional. Medicare was intended, and so on. Each of the parts that have large numbers of employees or large bud

I think this is a little too simple to be correct. For those who aren't familiar with the details, German law makes the cities compute and update a set of average rents based on location, standard and IIRC four other criteria. It'

The market was a tenant's paradise and correspondongly bad for landlords… and then many landlords moved to a different market. This has happened before, for example there have been cases where governments set the price of bread below p

I would guess: not in the near future. But if it's not required by any contract and has no paying customers, a service tends to wither slowly... and die at some point. /usr/bin/whois can use the RDAP protocol of course.

Have been to both. Based just on looks, I'd say it does the same, but differently… a lot of money spent, but less money and also less waste. China's built about a zillion coal-fired power plants recently, for example, and is build

I'm curious — if that's your attitude, why not all bots? You can say "User-Agent: foo\nDisallow:\n\nUser-Agent: *\nDisallow: /" to allow only named bots and reject them by default.

I've heard that too. Your posting inspired me to check. I see daily accesses from claudebot and gtpbot to /robots.txt on two sites. Also from something called amazonbot, which may be another AI bot?

You're telling the guy who pays for development to keep paying. Everything was well so long as Automattic paid and you went along for free, right? You can tell him he's a dick for messing with the status quo and most people will a

GP asked about peak oil demand. Remember that that depends on much more than ICE cars. Very roughly speaking there are four big components to oil demand: furnaces and similar, oil/gas-based electricity plants, ICEs including cars, and
